What an incredible moment listening to the icon share her story, writing, and tips to success with middle schoolers. It’s amazing to work with an organization like that will bring a legend into a school.

Elementary school Ricardo would never have believed he would read with someone who gave his life voice back in like ‘94 when I first found “the house on mango street”. 😭

A huge congrats to Rena Priest, winner of the Washington State Book Award! She was presented the award for I Sing the Salmon Home, an anthology of poetry celebrating our state's iconic salmon. She created and edited the book for her Washington State Poet Laureateship, a program of Humanities Washington and the Washington State Arts Commission. Check it out!

Path with Art was featured in the Sunday The Seattle Times paper. We are so grateful reporter Jayati Ramakrishnan and photographer Nick Wagner were able to capture the spirit of healing that being in a supportive art community can bring.
Our classes help Participant Artists (and teachers) build other strengths, too. Pam Hanson, Teaching Artist was quoted in the article saying, “When you’re faced with a blank canvas, you have to take a lot of risks, you can’t self-judge and you have to learn from your mistakes. Those are some of the exact skills someone needs when they’re reforming a life.”
