A year ago, Summer of 2024, was the first time I stepped foot in the office. I remember the knot in my belly, a delightful cocktail of excitement and dread. I didn’t know how my internship would be, who I would meet, and what I’d learn from it.

You can never predict when you encounter experiences that profoundly change your life. Huffman Creative turned out to be more than a place I interned at in LA that Summer, it became my first full-time job post-grad, the place I’d learn how to grow confident as a creative, as a producer, as a supervisor. Confident as a human who eagerly wants to make things happen.

It was a place where my multidisciplinarity and authenticity was rewarded.

Huffman Creative showed me that the workplace can be healthy, that you’re allowed to show up as you are, and that what matters most is to sincerely contribute and be a teamplayer. There is tender excitement in working alongside people you admire and support. Assisting .sarrels and taught me invaluable life lessons that I will be able to carry over for years to come.

I’m closing a year-long chapter, from interning to being a part of the company. Stepping into this new creative entrepreneurial journey with their support has meant the world. I feel prepared, ready, and mostly filled with indescribable joy. If it hadn’t been for Huffman Creative, I wouldn’t have built up the confidence to take the leap.

What’s next? Focusing on my art full-time, from photo-therapy to emotionally intelligent filmmaking, to letting myself explore more of my writing, dancing, singing, and every day I shall strip away the shame that holds me back to grow closer to what makes me undeniably human. ✨🌷🦋

Today, I turn 23.

22 brought me home to myself, gathering the scattered pieces of who I am and embodying them without shame. It was a year of embracing life and accepting myself.

But there’s one thing I haven’t fully allowed myself to feel: anger.

An emotion I’ve buried so deep it now stirs in my dreams, awakening in my spine like a snake wrapping itself tighter and tighter.

I’ve always been hopeful, joyful, an idealist with wide-open eyes. And anger doesn’t take that away from me.

But how can I hold hope without letting my anger breathe? It’s time to give her the space to shout, to exist unapologetically.

May 23 be the year I allow myself to feel anger, at injustices, abuse, racism, sexism, coercion, genocides, the rise of fascism…

Feminine rage is powerful. But when you start to feel it, when your body is done holding it, how do you express it healthily?

I refuse to see my anger as destructive. It is life-altering. Women are taught to shame and fear their rage, so we can be silenced, abused, oppressed.

I am angry. And I will scream it, paint it, dance it, write it. My anger will not harm others; it will become a force for change, a compass that tells me when my boundaries are crossed, when I need to say NO.

Because a NO never means yes.

Anger is my teacher, and I honor her. She shows me what I value and what I will no longer accept. My anger transforms my pain into power.

Cheers to 23.

This encounter with was both creative and human. When we exchanged ideas for the shoot, we spoke about tattoos, the drawings that write our stories in black ink. There are marks we acquire despite ourselves, scars life gives us, or sometimes that we inflict on ourselves… Lou-Belle shared the scars on her body, given by a wounded child. But that child has grown, healed, and now, as a woman, she rewrites her story. Tattoos placed over past scars are promises of gentler tomorrows. With resilience, Lou-Belle continues to write her story.

The flowers of hope heal past pains and embrace the body that carries us through life.

When you entrust me with your stories, it’s with gratitude that I accompany you on this journey of kindness towards yourself.

I am so proud of Lou-Belle, and I hope these photos bring you as much joy as they brought us. 💗
