Join us Saturday, May 29th for the second biannual UC Riverside PunkCon 2021 virtual gathering and show. This year we are hosting a webinar titled "Where Do We go From Here?: (Re) imagining Punk's Futurity," with guest speakers Taquila Mockingbird, Josie Wreck, Kristy Martinez, and moderator Dr. Ricky Rodriguez, and a virtual backyard show with bands TBA.

"Where Do We go From Here?: (Re) imagining Punk's Futurity"

The global pandemic has forced us to consider alternative ways of building and supporting community throughout these unprecedented times. Considering how punk is a culture that 1) deeply relies on physical gatherings; 2) is historically rooted in social justice activism and mutual aid support; and 3) challenges the status quo; social distancing has opened up new ways of being punk.

We’re gathering with different members from our communities to think about the ways that punk is shifting and adapting in this moment of uprising, political unrest, and mourning. This year, our theme is a response to how punk communities have thrived in this difficult time.

First, speakers will gather for an intergenerational roundtable discussion regarding this year’s theme. Guests are welcome to participate in the moderated Q&A portion. Afterwards, we will host a virtual show that is our creative take on our traditional backyard show to close our event.
