CALLING ALL STORYTELLERS!

Lopez Original Theater is looking for short plays (8-30 page scripts) for our annual fall production of one acts!

Our submission window opens Monday May 11th and will run through Friday, June 5th.

We are dedicated to producing work by and for residents of the North Salish Sea region of Washington State. Our reach extends south to Tacoma and north to the Canadian border.

All submissions will be considered, though we gravitate toward plays that make audiences feel something powerful: evoking self reflection, joy, catharsis, wonder and conversation.

Please send entries to [email protected]. Entries this year must be blind, in PDF format, with no playwright information on the play itself. Please send an additional PDF with your contact information and the name of your play.

We are not accepting full lengths at this time but stay tuned for future opportunities!

We look forward to reviewing your work and telling our stories!

With joy and theater magic,

The LOT Team

Lopez Original Theater Supports Lopez Rec

If you joined us for our inaugural production last Fall, you know that Lopez Original Theater is dedicated to the creation of new theatrical works which reflect our community and its voices.
This Spring, we facilitated a workshop series, open to the community, our aim was to foster the skills needed to produce and elevate live theater on Lopez. We held workshops over a two month period last spring such as stage combat, directing, cabaret and song writing to name a few. What we found is that our group of enthusiastic volunteers, who have full time jobs and other external commitments, lacked the time and resources to organize, advertise, and administrate the program. After the program ended we decided as a group that sadly, this type of offering is beyond our capacity.
With the support of a Parks & Rec District, we can foresee being able to offer a range of classes and workshops to all ages, drawing on the skills and experience of our existing facilitators, to help grow a vibrant theatrical community here on Lopez. We see Lopez Rec as more than just a necessary solution for school sports; it has the capacity, with minimal additional overhead, to alleviate the prohibitive and redundant administrative obstacles that stand between passionate teachers with skills and our community. This is why we support Lopez Rec, and urge you all to vote YES!

LOT seeks Stage Manager for Fall 2025!!
Oct 11, 2025
Dear Theater-Loving Lopezians!
Did you attend Lopez Original Theater’s inaugural production last Fall, “Thoughts and Players?” Or did you hear about it? Can you believe we pulled that off with no stage manager?? Neither can we!
Lopez Original Theater is a newly formed, vibrant and evolving collective of enthusiastic and hardworking volunteers dedicated to bringing the magic of original, local, live performance theater to our Lopez community. We are working to build this collective without hierarchy while maintaining clarity and accountability to each other and to our collective endeavors with curiosity, intention, inclusivity, and care.
While we are very proud of what we were able to put together for you last year, this year we would like someone to join us as a stage manager for our Fall 2025 production of original one-act plays. The plays have been selected and cast, rehearsals are underway, opening night is in sight, and we want your help to set our stage for success!
We seek someone with skills in…
- Organization
- Time management
- Collaboration
- Problem solving
- Communication
- Delegation
- Working well under pressure
Someone who ideally has experience in community theater and managing a team, and who is committed to fostering a fun and professional working environment with a positive attitude and a lot of grace.
The commitment includes:
- Attendance at our weekly, open production meetings, 5:30-7:00PM on Mondays at the Library Community Room (all are welcome!) starting as soon as possible
- Attendance at full-cast rehearsals
- Communication through the Slack app
- Extensive (primarily evening) availability during our Nov 8-23 residency at LCCA for set up, tech week, and performances!
Please write to us at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) with your interest. We can’t wait to hear from you!
