Visionary composer, choreographer, and cultural guardian Titus Fotso officially unveils the global release of his musical masterpiece, BAMILEKE SYMPHONY / SYMPHONIE BAMILEKE 1.0 (Studio Version, featuring Indeya).

This composition is a definitive excerpt from his landmark archival album, PAST-PRESENT-FUTURE / UNIVERSOUL SOUND SYSTEM 2.0.

Written and originally recorded almost three decades ago., Bamileke Symphony is an uncompromised, heartfelt homage to a lineage of invincible resilience. The track carries a profound, sovereign historical narrative:

"My great-grandmother was a young Tikar girl when she was purchased into captivity to serve the supreme leader of Koptchou. Ultimately, the King fell in love with his young servant, initiating a secret affair that culminated in her pregnancy. She is the structural reason I am a proud Bamileke child today. The Bamileke people have fought and survived the horrors of slavery, the chains of colonization, and they continue to fiercely resist the architectures of neo-colonialism in Cameroon."

HISTORICAL CONTEXT:

Historically, both the Tikar and Bamileke peoples migrated from the ancient Nile Valley/Egypt region, moving southward into Sudan before establishing their sovereign domains in modern-day Cameroon between the 9th and 14th centuries. As key members of the Bantu and Semi-Bantu migrations, their movements were deliberate strategies to preserve peace and safeguard their sacred sciences.

Produced under Jamboula Beat (ASCAP), Bamileke Symphony 1.0 is an acoustic gateway uniting traditional polyrhythmic algorithms with modern sound design and cinematic orchestration.

UniverSoul Sound System 3.0: Out of Africa’s Forge, A Global Renaissance.
"My name is Titus Fotso, and I bring to you the UniverSoul Sound System. The soul within this movement is my own—hammered in the fires of Africa’s forge.
I am a man of Africa, a child of Cameroon, and a survivor of severe systemic trauma. As the youngest of ten children born to a resilient Bamiléké princess, I was raised within a vast family structure spanning twenty-two siblings. In our traditional society of over 3.5 million people, patriarchal power went unchecked, and violence often ruled households.
From the ages of 8 to 17, my young manhood was made a living hell by the abusive older brother who raised me—a man who went so far as to hold a gun to our mother's head. But my mother was a lioness. She found her voice, she fought back, and her suffering, courage, song, and strength are permanently woven into the heartstrings of the UniverSoul Sound System.
I bless even my abuser today, for he became the very wall against which I pushed to break free and discover my destiny.
My exodus led me to the city of Yaoundé under the name Jimmy Titus. While stepping onto the path of a professional dancer and songwriter, I battled immense industry corruption, graft, and betrayal. Yet, my passion for rhythm steadily lifted my spirit toward the first grand visions of this project.
That vision quickly commanded global stages. In 1994, I toured the United States with the National Dance Company of Cameroon. By 1997, I was discovered by legendary American producer-choreographer Debbie Allen during her casting for the film AMISTAD, launching a career as an actor, dancer, and associate choreographer. I traveled the nation as a master instructor and stood as an original faculty member at the prestigious Debbie Allen Dance Academy in Culver City, California. My compositional work was recognized globally in 1999 when my song 'Spirit Dancer' won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in the World Music category. Ten years later, in 2009, I spearheaded the choreography for André Heller’s acclaimed European arena tour, Circus Afrika! Afrika!
I have risen in the light of music and dance. I came to America to reclaim my rightful name, Titus Fotso, searching for a sanctuary in the 'Land of the Free' away from the abusers of my youth and the corruption of the industry. Instead, even in Hollywood, I encountered false allies who sought to compromise my creative bliss. But in the immortal words of Maya Angelou, 'Still I rise.'
The UniverSoul Sound System 3.0 is the definitive third chapter of this journey. It is a sonic sanctuary built to end abuse, integrate our collective shadows, and expand human consciousness through unadulterated rhythm and joy. One world, one love, one system.
