A forgotten place,
Once filled with Sunday
Worshippers now,
Sits wasting away as if
Some long lost friend,
Waiting to be found again.
It's foundation crumbles,
To the barren grass,
Graves, raise up to be seen,
Again from the overgrown
fields where once flowers
and memorials placed
by loved ones left behind.
A church once vibrant and real,
Now only a memory lingers.

A Poet?
So many thoughts, so
Many words, how does
My mind handle them.
So confusing as to
Where it is to arrive.
I pick a notebook, a
Pen, to hopefully translate
Onto paper what I hear
In my cluttered head.
But will it make sense,
Will I channel some
Historical poet to guide
Me in this quest?
Help me to pen what
Will be called poetry?
I feel inadequate.
How can I call myself
A poet?

Mystery Destination

I traveled among byways
Lined with old oak trees, bushes
I have know idea of their names.
I feel so sorry for that lapse of
horticultural knowledge.
A lowly bayou follows along
like a lost friend, barely unable
to find any current, as if
at a standstill, nothing there
to help it along. Still.
Yet I travel as if with a mission
to find some simplance of purpose.
A confession, I have no idea
where this will take me,
or even why I chose this path.
I'll have to trust the reason
lies ahead, when I arrive
at my mystery destination.

Fresh Cut Grass

A fragrance so lush and green
Enlightens summers breath
Brings to mind of afternoon picnics
At the park where children frolic.

There's a symphony of white feathered birds
Looking for an afternoon snack.
When crickets once hidden within tall thick greener
Are flushed out in fright.

I whisper to myself in wonder
At nature's private concert,
Where crickets and birds dance
With wonder of the fresh cut grass.

Wash away long pressing fears
wash away from me.
No longer wanted bathe me not
I wish to be left alone.

Forget you ever knew me,
Wipe me from your mind.
I long to strive toward my future
where fear is not allowed.

Always a thought which
captures my mind,
with reckless abandon.
I strive with attempts
at following the journey
the thoughts flow,
only to be taken down
a path of resentment.
