How is Gatsby the perfect Halloween Story?

Ch*****ne. Flappers. Lavish parties. A mysterious millionaire staring across the water at a green light. But Gatsby’s world is a lot more dangerous than you remember. Things you might have forgotten about The Great Gatsby:

1. There’s murder - And more than one character will be dead before the story is over.
2. There’s an obsessive love affair - Gatsby has spent years and built an entire life around winning back one woman.
3. There’s a fatal hit-and-run - One devastating moment sets the story’s final tragedy into motion.
4. There’s organized crime - Gatsby’s enormous fortune has a shadowy past, with ties to bootlegging and the criminal underworld of Prohibition.
5. Almost everyone is hiding something - Affairs. Lies. Secret histories. Double lives. Very little in Gatsby’s glittering world is what it appears to be. And beneath all that glamour is a story about obsession, excess, class, identity, and the dangerous pursuit of something you can never truly possess.

Have your tickets yet? This isn’t the Gatsby you read in high school.

We were thrilled to welcome acclaimed choreographer Gabrielle Lamb to the Ballet Arkansas studios as she created an original world premiere for RE:MIX, running April 15-16 at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts with live music by the Symphony Orchestra

Known for her distinctive choreographic voice and imaginative approach to movement, Gabrielle spent an incredible period of creation with our Company Artists, developing a brand-new work that Arkansas audiences will experience for the very first time. Her premiere joins new works by Christian Denice and Penny Saunders, and a regional premiere by Executive and Artistic Director, Michael Fothergill, bringing four choreographic voices together for an evening built around invention, collaboration, and the future of dance.
