The man-made disasters feel endless as we watch the climate change impacts in full bloom the world over. Of course I include fascism in “man-made” category. This news about SpaceX bu****it hitting them moon has me feeling so fu**ed up. Reposting from Danielle Catherine:

It’s travelling at around 5,400 mph (8,700 km/h) about 7 times faster than the speed of sound.
Some people are saying, “It’s nothing. The Moon gets hit by space rocks all the time.”
The bigger conversation is about what happens as humans spend more time in space. How do we deal with space debris? Who is responsible?
What rules should exist? And then there’s the bigger question...
As we talk about mining the Moon, building bases, and eventually colonising space, what kind of relationship do some have with the places explored?
To repeat the same patterns of extraction and exploitation we’ve seen on Earth?
