The Civil Beat Mayoral Debate is Friday, Sept 25, 3-5:30pm at The PAC. From 3-4:30, meet & greet the 14 candidates for Kauai County Council in the Pac Lobby. At 4:30 the event moves into the Auditorium for a Debate between Mel Rapozo and Bernard Carvalho. This is a FREE event for the community.

PLEASE BE AWARE, the main entrance to KCC is closed. Enter off the hwy at the Nuhou intersection going toward Kilohana. Go past the drive to Kilohana, past Island School and on to The PAC which will be on your left. When you exit, you can go out thru the Main Entrance as usual, or back thru the way you entered.

If you are among the fortunate to have tickets to see The Kauai Concert Association's SEASON OPENING Concert this Saturday, Sept 5th at the PAC, I have IMPORTANT INFO to share!

The Main Entrance to KCC from the Hwy is closed through the middle of October. To enter the campus please use the Kilohana Gate. Turn off the Kaumuali`i Hwy at the light at Nuhou St, as if you were going to Gaylords. Go past the drive to Gaylords and continue on the road past the Pagoda, past Island School, and finally turn left into the PAC Parking Lot. The good news is after the concert you can exit the way you came in or go out the Main Entrance...it is open for exiting.

More importantly, there is still time to get your tickets either online at Kauai-Concert.org or at the door. You're in for a TREAT!

THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW Live Shadowcast Production!

Benefiting the Kaua’i Community College PRISM Club

"DON'T DREAM IT, BE IT!"

Get ready to do the Time Warp! While this marks KCC PRISM Club’s 3rd Annual showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, this year we are taking the experience to an electrifying new level with our first-ever live shadowcast!

All ticket proceeds from this performance will directly benefit the Kaua’i Community College PRISM Club, supporting an LGBTQ+ friendly campus.

What is a Shadowcast?

A shadowcast is an ensemble of actors who perform the movie live on stage directly in front of the screen while the film plays behind them. Performers lip-sync the dialogue and songs, recreate the iconic choreography and blocking, and bring the screen magic into the audience!

AUDITION DETAILS

• Audition Date(s): Thursday September 24 through Sunday September 27, 2026

• Time: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM

• Location: Kaua’i Community College Campus / Performing Arts Center

AUDITION PREPARATION & EXPECTATIONS

• Performance & Lip-Sync: Be prepared to lip-sync a song or scene from the film for the character(s) you are interested in. We are looking for big energy, bold physical choices, expressive facial acting, and stage presence! Costume optional for the audition.

• Movement/Choreography: You may be asked to learn a quick combination (like The Time Warp) to test movement and timing.

• Costumes: Please note that all performers will be responsible for sourcing their own costumes. Screen-accuracy is encouraged, but creative flair that fits the spirit of the character is welcomed!

ALL ROLES OPEN

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and diverse cast for all roles! This is intended to be a fun-filled experience for everyone involved.

• Dr. Frank-N-Furter: A charismatic, confident, sweet transvestite from Tr*******al, Transylvania. High-energy commanding presence.

• Brad Majors: An innocent, upright young man who gets swept into a world he never expected. Great physical comedy.

• Janet Weiss: Brad's naive fiancée who undergoes a total transformation. Requires strong dramatic and physical expression.

• Riff Raff: Frank’s creepy, brooding handyman. Iconic physical presence and movement.

• Magenta: The dramatic, enigmatic maid with an unforgettable, wild look and fierce attitude.

• Columbia: The ecstatic rock-and-roll groupie full of high-octane energy and big emotions. Tap-dancing ability a significant advantage, but not essential!

• Rocky Horror: Frank's creation—the ultimate physical specimen. Needs high confidence to pull off the costume and expressive physical storytelling.

• Eddie: The wild, sax-playing ex-delivery boy rocker. High energy and loud personality. Ability to ride a tricycle or bicycle helpful.

• Dr. Everett V. Scott: The eccentric rival scientist. Excellent facial reactions and expressive lip-syncing required. Ability to maneuver a wheelchair helpful.

• The Criminologist / Narrator: The articulate, deadpan narrator who holds the show together and interacts with audience callbacks.

• Transylvanians / Ensemble: The eccentric party guests who bring the castle to life, dance The Time Warp, and interact directly with the audience!

KEY DATES

• Auditions: September 24, 2026 (5:00 - 8:00 PM)

• Rehearsals: Weekly starting early October

• Performance Date: Friday, November 20, 2026

DUKE written & performed by Moses Goods will be at the PAC, Friday, August 21, 6:30pm

Award-winning actor, writer and storyteller Moses Goods brings to life one of the most important and beloved figures in Hawaiian history in his acclaimed one-person show, "Duke." Through this poignant and powerful play, Goods portrays the remarkable life of Duke Paoa Kahanamoku — Hawaiʻi's first Olympic gold medalist, the father of modern surfing, and an enduring symbol of aloha, humility and the resilience of the Hawaiian people.

Duke Kahanamoku's life was nothing short of extraordinary. Born in Honolulu in 1890, he shattered world swimming records, won five Olympic medals across three Games, rode a wave off Waikīkī more than a mile atop a wooden surfboard, saved eight lives from a capsized yacht in southern California, appeared in more than two dozen Hollywood films, and served twelve terms as Sheriff of the City and County of Honolulu. He carried the spirit of aloha to every corner of the world — and brought the world to Hawaiʻi.

But beyond the accolades and fame, Duke experienced something equally profound: Hawaiʻi's passage from an independent Kingdom through the difficult decades of territorial rule and into statehood. Known for his kindness and love of community, Duke became far more than a champion; he became a role model and an ongoing source of inspiration for all.
