Ah!! I don't know how "the algorithm" didn't show me this sooner, but damn!! Here is a great chance to make a major impact for local, out-there, arts.

There still time to donate now!

What if we told you that for $5/month, you can help us pay artists and keep shows accessible to music fans of all ages and backgrounds?

From May 11–15, 2026, Givebutter is giving back $25K during its Monthly Giving Week. That means for every recurring donor that commits to at least $5/month, Givebutter will give us $10!

Any amount supports our mission. Visit the link to learn more ⬇️

Jazz Guy Has Little Hat And Everything

04/17/2026

The live music industry isn’t broken.
It’s working exactly as designed.

Just not for the people you think.

Fans are paying more than ever.
Fees stacked on top of fees.
Resale markets spiraling out of control.

Courts are now saying what many of us have been saying for years.
Market power isn’t just big.
It’s distorted.

But here’s the part no one wants to sit with.

While billions move through this system,
the people actually building the show
are still operating without real structure.

Crew.
Labor.
The backbone of every tour.

Yes, some people make good money.
But that’s not the same as stability.
That’s not the same as protection.
That’s not the same as longevity.

Because what’s being traded isn’t just time.

It’s time away from home.
Time away from family.
Time away from your own life.

Unpredictable schedules.
Gaps between tours.
No continuity of care.

And in many cases
no real access to benefits that follow you.

Meanwhile, the system above it
is extracting more than it ever has.

Higher ticket prices.
Higher fees.
Higher margins.

So where is that money going?

Not into portability.
Not into long-term security.
Not into the people carrying the weight.

This is the disconnect.

An industry that sells out arenas
but can’t standardize basic dignity.

An industry that markets once-in-a-lifetime experiences
while relying on a workforce built on burnout and sacrifice.

And then tells that workforce:
“This isn’t for everyone.”

Exactly.

That’s the point.

If the job is this demanding,
this specialized,
this relentless…

Then the structure should match it.

Not charity.
Not GoFundMe.
Not luck.

Structure.

Because the real question isn’t
whether live music is thriving.

It’s who it’s actually working for.

We told you it was a busy April! 🌀

Join us at the UK Art Museum on Thursday, April 23 for a night of far-out, mind-bending music from Nashville-based pedal steel guitarist Luke Schneider and opener Jane Is Not Acoustic!

🎸Luke Schneider is a Nashville-based pedal steel guitarist who has worked with a variety of artists including Margo Price, Orville Peck, S.G. Goodman, William Tyler, and Futurebirds. His debut solo album of ambient New Age music created entirely on pedal steel, ‘Altar of Harmony,’ was released by Third Man Records in 2020. His new EP ‘For Dancing In Quiet Light’ is out now via Leaving Records.

👾JaneIsNotAcoustic is a DIY solo experimental electroacoustic act. Sometimes featuring elements of rock, metal, pop and classical. JiNA is embracing the strange times of the computer age. The use of technology not to make art easier, cheaper or faster, but to explore new worlds, aesthetics and ideas. To make art with human intent in every step. To fight de-humanization we make art of the machines.
