Sometimes a piece of art is more than temporary paint on a cheek... Sometimes they are a touching tribute to someone no longer with us. When these circumstances happen our heart and soul goes into every brush stroke as we smile through the tears, our thoughts and prayers are with them in that moment and many moments afterwards. This becomes a treasured memory we keep with us forever. This is one of those moments.

Last month we had the honor of being part of a wonderful event for a beautiful Charity called The CDH Foundation. We were blessed to share some of our talents and add some light to a very emotional event. To add light to a birth defect so often unheard of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) is a birth defect in which the Diaphragm does not close properly causing a hole where abdominal organs migrate into the chest cavity putting pressure on them. There is a 50% survival rate. Many of the families we met that day were there walking for their angel babies, others whose warriors had survived had undergone monumental hardships, numerous surgeries and lengthy hospital stays.
This one strong and beautiful mother approached us, asking if there was an age limit for getting your face painted. Of course we said no and offered her the chair. When asked what she would like she stated "a small butterfly" and she was asked what color/colors she would like it. She simply stated "something to represent a boy" She then teared up and stated with a quivering voice "the symbol for CDH is a butterfly and my son is a CDH angel and I want to honor him" Fighting tears this sweet butterfly was born.
