Tomorrow, we gather in Lewiston.
After months of planning, discovering artists, sharing their stories, and looking forward to this weekend, the Lewiston Jazz Festival is finally here.
And, as the Artistic Director, if there's one thing I hope you'll do this weekend, it's discover.
Discovery has become part of what makes the Lewiston Jazz Festival.
Over the years, you've discovered artists here who went on to become some of the most exciting names in jazz. You've discovered remarkable musicians from our own region. And sometimes you've wandered to a stage, heard someone you didn't know, and found yourself staying for the entire performance.
That's the experience we want to create again this weekend.
Five stages. More than 150 musicians. Two days to wander up and down the street, listen, and discover.
Come for an artist you know. Stay for someone you don't.
Spend some time on Center Street. Enjoy the food/drink vendors. Follow the music from stage to stage.
And perhaps leave Lewiston with a new favorite artist.
It all begins tomorrow at 5 PM.
And along the way, if you see Amanda Hasley and Suzanne Raby, please take a moment to say thank you. They work tirelessly throughout the year to make this festival happen—and while most of us are still sleeping at 5 AM each festival morning, they're already at work. So much of what you'll experience this weekend is possible because of what they do behind the scenes.
Come discover jazz in Lewiston.
