A children's Easter poem

The little bunny
By Suzanne Johnson
It was a bright morning out
The little bunny thought
I think I'll go and paint some eggs
And maybe take a walk.
Hopping along the path of grass
He stopped to take a whiff
I smell some chocolate candy here!
Or is my mind just playing tricks?
He shook his little tail
And raised his bunny ears
I could swear I heard something
Like laughter and cheers.
Oh no my mind must be doing that again!
Dreaming is all I can do.
Momma says it's good to dream
Just don't let it get to you.
Then he twitched his nose all around
Listened as best as he could
I suppose I'll go a little further down
But I wonder if I should?
My Momma says I can't go too far
Then maybe I'd get lost
So I'll just stay in my forest here
And very carefully watch.
So along he went on his way
Looking for his friends
And hoping there is candy there
When the trail comes to an end.
Finally! He was there
And around him all his friends
And guess what else was there
When the trail came to an end?
It was not his mind playing tricks on him!
Shouted his friend the duck
Quaking while trying to speak
This is just your luck!
There is chocolate I see over there
Your favorite kind that is
Sitting in his favorite spot
Quacking while eating his.
Quack Quack chocolate!
The little bunnies eyes grew
And his mouth began to swell
Just thinking of the sweet surprise
Suited him very well.
So all along he was not dreaming
It really did exist
Not to mention the greatest thing
Having friends to share it with.
