Miss Czech-Slovak Illinois

Miss Czech-Slovak Illinois The Miss Czech-Slovak Illinois queens are crowned by UMS, for the National pageant in Wilber Nebraska

The Miss Czech-Slovak Illinois page celebrates young women who promote their Czech, Moravian and Slovak heritage. The Illinois state pageant is sponsored by our parent organization, United Moravian Societies. UMS has a long history of supporting young women to promote their culture through events and dancing in traditional costumes of their ancestors. Since the 1940s and 1950s United Moravian Soci

eties has named a young woman to be Kralovna UMS. This page will celebrate that history and also share information related to the National Miss Czech & Slovak pageant that is held every August, in Wilber Nebraska.

The Miss Czech Slovak Illinois Queen Klara Sebestik was out in the community last weekend. She participated in the Lidice commemoration in Crest Hill and then stopped by the picnic at the Slovak Mission church. She caught a show with the Veselička kids group and Divadlo Bohemia's Smurf themed Dětský den event.

One of the quieter moments of queenship.🇺🇸🕊️

This past Memorial Day, I had the privilege of reciting In Flanders Fields in both Czech and English at Bohemian National Cemetery.

It's easy to get caught up in the long weekend, but days like this are an important reminder of why we have it in the first place. I was honored to take part in a ceremony alongside keynote speaker and U.S. Air Force veteran Chuck Betzold, Chuck Michálek and the Friends of Bohemian National Cemetery, Mr. Josef Dvořáček from the Czech Consulate General in Chicago, representatives of T. G. Masaryk Czech School, veterans, and community members who came together to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

I'm grateful to have been part of such a meaningful ceremony and to represent both my Czech heritage and my community. Thank you to everyone who organized and participated in this special day.❤️🤍💙
