Back home in Loudoun County at Crooked Run Brewing for my latest exhibit. If good beer and art isn’t enough to make you stop by, the tacos at Senor Ramon are insanely delicious.

50 years ago today the astronauts of Apollo 11 returned to earth. In order to prevent the spread of possible contagions from the moon, the astronauts were placed in quarantine upon their return. The mobile quarantine facility (MQF) was a converted Airstream trailer and the astronauts were to remain inside for three weeks following their mission. During their return to earth from the moon, fellow astronaut Jim Lovell reminded the crew that perhaps their most difficult part of the trip would be their time in the MQF. Lovell joked, “Please don’t sneeze”. To which Apollo 11 crew member Michael Collins quipped, “Keep the mice healthy”.
This painting on display at Playalinda Brewing Company - Brix Project in Titusville, Florida is a playful take on that exchange. In addition to the text and rodent, the coloring of the piece is symbolic of the capsule’s landing. The top portion’s red and white stripes are similar in design to the parachutes deployed during the ocean landing. There are 17 stripes, one for each mission of the Apollo program.
Developing the depth for a new piece.
When one door closes, another opens. Started the weekend closing an exhibit at Love City Brewing Company in Philadelphia and ended by installing the series at Red Bear Brewing in DC.
One last week to see this series of paintings at Love City Brewing Company. My ‘Life is Not Black & White’ series will be moving to Red Bear Brewing in DC on June 9.
What a great day for a beer. Swing by for a pint or three and check out my spaceflight series on display.
The spaceflight series incorporates text and imagery into a blending of color to create works inspired by the American space program. From iconic imagery to a playful work inspired by NASA lore, the artwork in the spaceflight series is a colorful representation and interpretation of history.

Honored to have the guys at Rocket Frog Brewing Company use my painting as part of their announcement. Can’t wait to try the new beer!
Try our newest beer before it hits our own taproom! Tonight at Rebellion DC for the Local Throwdown finals. We are debuting “Moon Ahead.” An easy-drinking traditional German Pilsner with brilliant clarity and a fluffy white head. A slight bready/biscuit malt flavor balances out the hop bitterness from Kazbek and Hallertau hops. Crisp, clean, and crushable! Don’t worry, it’ll be in the tap room soon.
I’m sensing a pattern here...
New series of paintings to be exhibited in Philadelphia next month at Love City Brewing Company.
People have their thoughts, their beliefs, their convictions. We have in many ways become so entrenched and steadfast in our way of thinking, so black & white, that opinions differing from ours are labeled as wrong. Conversations and reasonable dialogue cease to exist and much like parallel lines never to meet, we forge down a single path unwilling to bend. However, at our core, in our very souls, we are an abundance of thoughts, feelings, and memories. No person holds a single belief, but rather a melding of our environment, our experiences.
Paintings up and on display.
Sneak peek at a few pieces for upcoming exhibitions at Streetcar 82 Brewing Co. and Love City Brewing Company.

"Art is a dying trade and if you ask any artist, people's attitudes toward artists can easily kill the artist's spirit and make an artist quit."
As an artist, it's a struggle to support oneself, especially in a downturn economy. Art is a dying trade and if you ask any artist, people's attitudes toward artists can easily kill the artist's spirit and make an artist quit. The public...
"Art is no longer being siloed as a creative pursuit, but rather used as a means to help children learn other subjects. Reflecting on art and learning about art, but also employing art to make sense of how it relates to your understanding of the world. Young people are being taught that art connects to the world around you."
Upon entering Frieze New York last May, I ran into a colleague with his two small children. As we crossed the threshold of the bustling fair tent, the kids sprang into action, making a beeline for a red Carsten Höller octopus. They promptly plopped down beside it and began a discussion—“What is it m...
Four years ago I was invited to participate in the first Painting The Music by Dan Fisk. At the event I had the honor of creating a piece inspired by the music of James Britton and Jamie Boyd. Since then they have formed a band, Throwing Plates and just released their first album. IT.IS.AWESOME! As Dan Fisk put it, "you should probably buy it now so you can have a "I knew them when..." story.
Listen to songs from the album Throwing Plates, including "Dirty Lies and Whiskey," "Life Is Like a Limousine," "Under the Table," and many more. Buy the album for $8.91. Songs start at $0.99. Free with Apple Music subscription.

There is much more to art in DC than what is hanging on the walls in the galleries.
There's a lot of great murals and street art in D.C. These are our favorites.

The power of photography.
This article has been contributed by Russel Cooke. "Earth Day provides a fitting occasion to think more broadly and deeply about what these patterns of consumption mean for us, our communities, and for planet Earth."
A lifestyle based on aggressive consumption stresses the Earth's resources and, beyond a certain point of comfort, does not actually foster human fulfillment or happiness.
