Loudoun Street studios artist Kim T Richards participated in the Paint Great Falls plein air event last week. The locations were so beautiful, it was hard to choose a place to paint! This painting was created at Turner Farm.

All three of the artists at Loudoun Street Studios are members of the Loudoun Sketch Club, a group committed to painting outdoors. We love the opportunity to capture our beautiful county with our paints and pastels.

Looking for something to do tomorrow? Resident artist Kim T. Richards will be the Artist in Action at 868 Estate Vineyard tomorrow from 2-4 PM. Enjoy some of their award winning wines in a beautiful setting while Kim demonstrates her painting methods.

Wanderlust. I know I can't be the only one who had it this long icy winter of staying home. At 868 Estate Vineyard in Purcellville, you can explore paintings of places far & wide, in a mix of styles and materials – oil, acrylic, pastel, glass mosaic, mixed media created by artists Nancy Ramsey, Hope Hanes and Eileen O'Brien, and myself. Pack your bags and choose your favorite destination! I will be at the vineyard painting tomorrow, June 12th from 2-4 PM. I'd love to hear your answer to the question, If you could go anywhere, where would you go?

New work from Libby Stevens, 12x12 pastel. DM for price. “ I have a friend in Maine who lives at an abandoned quarry. This was done from a photo that I took 10 years ago. It is so very quiet and serene there.I tried to capture that stillness in this painting. I can’t wait to go back. We all need that serenity now!”

It is with sadness that we announce that resident artist will be leaving our studio, but we hope you will join us in wishing her luck with this new chapter in her life. This April, as the world around us was in upheaval, Carol began the pursuit of a life long dream. For the next three years, she will be devoting her attention to her studies in the Master Artist's Program at in Rockville. Carol will no longer be teaching classes on a regular basis, but will teach occasional workshops in her home studio (once it is safe to gather again!). You can keep up with new work by following her on Facebook and Instagram: .

We have all been looking at the same things day in and day out for months now. In this class, you will learn to see the beauty hidden in plain sight while also learning the fundamentals of painting in acrylic. Each class will meet live via Zoom. After a short demonstration, we will paint together for the remainder of the class, so you can ask questions and get feedback in real time. It will be as much like my in person classes as is possible during the stay at home orders.

While we are all finding our way around this new way of everyday life, I believe it is still important to look for a bit of creativity no matter where our day takes us. I Love being part of Loudoun Street Studios, and have been finding times to come into the studio to paint while still practicing the social distancing rules that help us all. Should you need new Art I am Happy to arrange a curbside pickup with you after you have purchased from our artist. I am Nearing the Finish line of the painting of my Mom's Dress and the story that sparked my love of the old black Singer Sewing machines. I currently have some New ideas rumbling around in my head. May be some kind of on-line class or a follow along. You will have to stay tuned to see what they are. Hope you all are making the best of what you have. Bethany
