What a FUN week at Villains Center Stage camp!!

These kiddos took on the most iconic villains from stage and screen this week to learn about bold, brave choices on stage!

This particular material allowed students to step out of their comfort zones in a safe way because every character was not only familiar, but larger than life.

From movement to facials to evil laughs, every activity required self-confidence and trust in their fellow actors. What valuable lessons on stage and off 💜🖤💚

We are having a wickedly fun week at Villains Center Stage camp!

Each day is themed around different “types” of villains, all teaching campers musical theatre skills, creativity and confidence.

⚡️Monday - Masters of Mischief
⚡️Tuesday - Pirates and Sea Trouble
⚡️Wednesday- Royal Roughians
⚡️Thursday - Fairytale Villains

Each day we are learning songs, fun dances, making cool crafts and eating yummy snacks. And along the way, we are growing in confidence and creativity.

And bonus! All of our curriculum is written and designed in house, just for our students.

It gives us such J O Y to watch our Stage Local family shine on stages all across Middle TN! 🫶🏻

✨We saw SpongeBob Youth Edition Audience Of One last night! Our sweet kiddos Zoey, Lucy, Elise, and Dot did such a great job! Also bravo to 𝗞 𝗔 𝗬 (our choreographer from Oz and Sound of Music) on choreo👏🏻👏🏻

✨Thursday night we saw 42nd Street with Dynamic BPA Voice & Theater and were blown away!! Our sweet Olivia starred as Peggy Sawyer and we also got to see our sweet ava baker (Sound of Music Choreographer) and angel girl Brinkley Vooys SHINE!!

✨Last but not least, in May we had the privilege to see our MARIA HERSELF Amy Nichols SLAY as Paulette in Legally Blonde the Musical Center For The Arts and also got to see Keanu & Ariel Aiono-Netzler | Opera Singers (Laurey Williams in our upcoming production of “Oklahoma!”) also SHINE in the ensemble 🎀

We love being directors but we love being audience members more and always feel so lucky to cheer on so many people on stages all across the state. Go support your local theatre! Go see a show!!

What a magical week at Stage Local! 🎀👑

Our parent showcase was a royal celebration of all of the skills we learned this week in theatre and in life!

A special thank you to Princess Prep Academy and Xandria Cross for making our girls’ showcase extra magical with a special surprise.

We say this at every event but our job is to cultivate confident, creative, well-rounded kiddos who feel a sense of belonging in EVERY room-not just on stage. What a gift to pour into this group of girls this week!

What a magical week in the studio this week at princess camp!! 👑

So far this week:
✨We learned choreography
✨Played acting games
✨Made fun crafts including flower crowns and makeup bags!
✨Practiced sides and scenes
✨Learned new songs
✨And so much more!

Today is CORONATION DAY! Aka parent showcase and friendship bracelet day. What a magical week on stage!

It’s with the saddest hearts that we report the loss of one of the sweetest little cast members in Stage Local history: our darling “Toto”. 💔

Sweet little Bentley crossed the rainbow bridge this past weekend. Bentley filled our stage with so much joy. He was a comfort to the sweet kiddos making their on-stage debuts and a delight to all of the adults in the cast.

His first and only production was “The Wizard of Oz”-but he was, without a doubt, a star. He brought joy to every audience and exited stage left like a pro (almost) every time he was cued.

A special thank you to the Maxwell Family for allowing us to love on such a sweet pup and welcome him into our family and to the Land of Oz. 🌈 🐾

Meet your teaching artist: Xandria Cross 🩰

Xandria Cross is a dynamic choreographer and performing artist whose career over the past decade encompasses television, film, theater, and music.
As a passionate educator, Xandria has shared her love of the arts with students of all ages, from Pre-K to adults.
In 2022, she founded The Palace Players, a nonprofit theater company in Knoxville, TN, where she teaches and directs full-scale productions.

Choreography credits include Mary Poppins, White Christmas, Oliver!, The Sound of Music, Newsies, The Fantastiks, Into the Woods, The Little Mermaid, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown and more!

On stage credits include: Judy Haynes (White Christmas), Spot Conlon (Newsies), Baroness Elsa Schraeder (The Sound of Music), The Witch (Into the Woods), Scuttle (The Little Mermaid), and featured dancer roles in Mary Poppins, Oliver and Anastasia.

It is her goal to inspire the next generation of performers to grow their God given gifts with excellence and she is thrilled to be working with the Stage Local team.

Xandria played Baroness Elsa Schraeder in Stage Local’s “The Sound of Music” and won the Stagie Award for Standout Dancer of the Year. She is a treasured teacher, artist and friend of Stage Local!
