Shawn purchased his first bucking cows from Jigs Wade and Will Cook in 2003. Shawn would occasionally go help rope wild cows and would buy them if they were “wild” enough to make bucking cows. There was one instance where Shawn was called to catch a small group of cows on a 1,700 acre place. One of these cows was the fastest and smartest cow he had ever encountered. Shawn had to buy this particula
r cow, so he did. That cow ended up being 53 “Black Cow” and the dam to PBR Finals bull and competition stand out, Jacobs Pet. He had career earnings exceeding $85,000! 53 proceeded to produce two more sons with Probullstats as well! When SR Bucking Stock began, Shawn would just breed to whatever bull Will Cook would send him to use. The first bull he used on his own was 621, a Red Eye son. When asked what the best sire he has used to date, Shawn said 77 Showmaster. He was grand son of the producer, Super Dave. His daughters have been a great addition to the program producing 677 Smooth Sailing hauled by Chad Berger/ Dakota Rodeo as well as 170 Sphinx who was the weanling champion at the 2018 ABBI sanctioned event in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. 703 YETI and 670 Runyanator were great using bulls out of the Showmaster line. Shawn has been doing this awhile and has raised some great bulls including Jacobs Pet, Smooth Sailing, 492 Mind Freak, and 510 Snake Farm. SR Bucking Stock is extremely excited about the opportunity they had to purchase the remaining females from Rafter D Bucking Stock in 2018. These females carry the genetics of Calicoat Jack, Best Ever, White Out, Up In Smoke, and Oscars Velvet and are backed with decades of dedication put in by Bobby Stallings. This group of cows came bred to 74 No Life (Houdini x MS0) and 107X Price is Right, a full brother to Priceless. Shawn has been impressed with his 2018 calf crop as a whole. Two of these calves have pulled a first and third place finish at their first competition. Shawn says it is hard not to be excited about his 2019 calves being sired by NFR and 3x PBR Finals bull, Wipeout! Our 2020 calves are by the exceptional bull, Z18 Lil Brute, and they are a super nice set.
