Another house portrait complete!

Through out the year, especially throughout the summer months I’m typically doing a few of these lovely watercolor paintings for a good friend of mine (who is also a wonderful realtor 🤩❤️).
Let me know if you’d like to capture your house in a personal painting or someone else’s for them!
These are NOT prints or done digitally! Hand drawn and painted by me 🤗

Hello all!
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted! I apologize for that but we have moved twice this year😅 ARMY life, am I right?

We are finally settling in Fayetteville, NC (for 3 years at least)!

I am available to give art lessons and seeking opportunities to help teach within home school communities. If you have a need or know someone may have an interest please reach out 🙂

It’s been a month since my last lesson and I miss it already! 🎨🖌️✏️

Also back in May, I finished up 2 commissioned house portraits for some really amazing people!
One is for an outstanding realtor and friend who gives a personalized painting as a gift to her client at closing 🥰
The other was for a friend and fellow God-fearing mom and military spouse for her lovely hosts during an OCONUS PCS.
These are some of my favorite types of paintings to work on❤️

Back in May!!
A homeschool landscape lesson featuring the contemporary artist Grant Haffner

Students focused on how to create depth and space in a landscape by using a horizon line, one point perspective, and color temperature.
We used sharpies, rulers, washable paint, and collaged a road in the center.

These ARMY kids know a lot about being on the road so it was only fitting to highlight an artist that focuses on travel in his landscapes 🙂

It has almost been exactly a year since my last post on this page!
I’m still teaching and creating art 🎨
We moved away from Oklahoma in December.
We are in Fort Jackson, SC … but we will be in Fayetteville, NC come June!
This military life 🤪Am I right?

I’ve been teaching a small homeschool group here and we have been learning and getting creative!
I’m hoping to reach a homeschool community in NC. If anyone knows of any homeschool group in need of some art education, please let me know 🥰

I will post some lessons here soon!

Summer is over… although this heat did NOT get the memo!
School has started and I’m ready to get back to teaching!
Today, my 3 year old and I did a color lesson. We practiced color identification, using a paint brush and watercolor paints (it involves more instruction than you think), color mixing, and pencil/marker grip with different lines.
A fun and educational lesson that took 20/30 minutes of my time but opened up her imagination and creativity into a full hour of additional play. Just perfect for me to make and enjoy my afternoon iced coffee 🥤❤️

My last class of the school year with the older kids ended with a great framed art work!
Students created animal portraits! Some animals were even their own pets!
The background was made by scraping paint in different directions.
While that dried, students traced the major shapes of their animal using a black paint pen and accented highlights with a white paint pen directly on the glass!
From there, we discussed the temperature of color and blocked in areas or light with lighter colors and shadows with our dark colors.
Everything ends up being painted in reversed because we flip the painting over on top of our background to protect it from being scratched!
We all loved how these turned out 😍
Which one is your favorite?

I haven’t been great at taking pictures during lessons 🤦‍♀️
But students did worked with clay at the beginning of April.
K-2 learned how to create coils and slabs and how to connect using texture and water ( score and slip!). They created insects or arachnids and used beads and buttons to decorate!

Not pictured is 3-5 clay projects! They created cupcake pinch pot containers with slab and coil tops!

Easter Pop Art!
Students learned about Andy Warhol, Complementary colors, and line direction/ variation.
The rabbits were cut using my cricut to save time. Students chose 2 sets of complementary colors to glue as the background for the rabbits and then used the correct colors to follow directions and use small lines to create fur.
Lastly, they used scrap paper to collage on personalized accessories for each rabbit!
I just love these!

Grades 3-5 learned about self portraits, in the style of Romero Britto!
Little Artists first learned about facial proportions and placements and drew LIGHTLY with pencils.
They added the Romero Britto nose but individualized each portrait with their own hair, browns, and other details.
The background was also very pop art with a patterns all about each artist!

Spring has brought lots of growth and color to Oklahoma!
The 1st graders at the school I give lessons at read a book about Georgia OKeefe. They inspired me to create a mixed media, two part lesson!
O’Keefe is lesser known for her cloud paintings but she has a wonderful painting of the view above the clouds. The kids loved the mix of a chalk sky and painting with their own mini clouds(cotton balls). They worked on varying size as the clouds went back into space.
The little artists also did some observational drawing of the inside of flowers with water soluble markers. They then painted by using water to spread the marker colors
