A little behind the scenes look while I listen to the latest Modern Woodcarver podcast. I typically carve in batches. After carving, I coat each piece in boiled linseed oil. I then let them dry here at the paint station (aka my kitchen counter) for two days minimum.

Once completely dry, I’ll spend 2-3 hours painting each piece. When the paint is dry, they’ll get one final coat of boiled linseed oil a couple days to dry before listing on . ✌️

A huge shoutout to ! About a month ago, they reached out to me after hearing my episode on the podcast. I spoke about my hopes to soon begin teaching beginner woodcarving classes locally. I expressed my desire to own my own set of quality knives for the classes.

Ashten messaged me and said they could help me set that up! The fact that they took the time out of their busy schedule, traveling to shows, and crafting knives to listen to the episode and offer to work out a deal with me means a lot.

When the knives arrived, I played around with all of them, and began thinking of all of the potential beginner designs I’ll be able to teach. Each knife is absolutely perfect, and I’ll continue to champion for their small business.
