As my trip nears its end, with just two or three days left, I’ve had my belief reinforced even more that perhaps my approach to climbing—really, bouldering—could benefit from a pretty fundamental paradigm shift.
I continue to surprise myself with little sends and wins. Perhaps my serial projecting has had real benefits, but perhaps there’s also some magic in letting the reins loose, releasing expectations, and just trying damn hard in the moment instead of trying to optimize every move.
I know this isn’t a novel concept, and I’m sure plenty of people have experienced it within their own climbing. Conceptually, it’s something I was already well aware of, but knowledge and application are two vastly different things.
Anyway, I’m going to settle into being present with my remaining time in Squamish. I’ll catch y’all on the flip side.
