ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Shelby Dukeminier is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the relationship between place, personal history, and transformation. Drawing from lived experience and an ongoing interest in movement—both physical and emotional—their practice reflects themes of resilience, impermanence, and the quiet narratives embedded in everyday environments. Influenced by travel, architecture, and natural landscapes, Dukeminier’s work balances structure with intuition, inviting viewers to engage with subtle detail, materiality, and scale.
Dukeminier is a former Burning Man Honoraria artist, an experience that significantly shaped her approach to large-scale work, collaboration, and art as a shared, participatory experience. Creating work within the temporary and extreme environment of Black Rock City reinforced a commitment to experimentation, adaptability, and the power of art to foster connection in unconventional spaces.
With a background that bridges creative practice and professional leadership, Dukeminier brings a disciplined yet exploratory approach to her work. Through ongoing studio practice, she continues to expand both technical skill and conceptual depth, creating work that is reflective, grounded, and open-ended.
