This video is an Oil and Water Trilogy that the magician can perform from a borrowed shuffled deck. I initially did the routine with a 12-card Oil and Water and then an 8-card version, followed by the surprise ending. I made the first phase a Follow The Leader routine based on a wonderful David Solomon idea back in 2017.

This routine is a hybrid of ideas from the late sixties to early seventies. A three-card monte routine I saw Daniel Cros perform at his bar at the Desert Inn Hotel in Las Vegas in 1971 inspired this routine. I added a trick from Pallbearers Review that allowed you to complete the effect from a shuffled deck in use.

This routine combines three effects one by David Solomon, one by Peter Duffie, and one by myself. I first published this routine in Magic Magazine in the late nineties, and then I tweaked it into this version and published it in my 2012 lecture notes, The Cardjurer.

This effect is my third version of making four-of-a-kind vanish. My first version was in a book I wrote in the early seventies, "Here's My Card," and the routine was called EvaporACEtion. The second routine was in my book Las Vegas Kardma, and I named it, "The Vanishing Aces."

This routine is from my 2004 notes. Jack Carpenter's effect, I Dance for the Devious, inspired this version.

This fun ending to an Oil and Water effect first appeared in my book, "Here's My Card." The book was written in 1973 and given to my publisher Gambler's Book Club that year. I showed the routine to Steve Freeman, Roger Klause, Dai Vernon, Jimmy Grippo, Ricky Jay, and others that year. I showed the sequence to Paul Harris in 1974.
