A Quetzalcoatl tattoo is the Aztec feathered serpent, and this one runs the full forearm, head at the elbow down to a stepped pyramid at the wrist.

Mike Mike Andrade | Dark Art Tattoo Artist | Las Vegas built it as one piece down the arm, plumes across the top, the scaled body coiling into the temple steps above the wrist.

Medusa tattoos are most often worn for protection. The Greeks put her face on shields and armour to turn harm away. This one covers a half sleeve, shoulder to elbow.

The two halves are drawn differently. The snakes are illustrative, hard black outlines with every scale etched in. Her face has no outline at all, just soft grey shading. Two approaches sitting on one arm.

One snake coils over the shoulder, a second strikes upward with the fangs out, and a hand rises through her hair below.

A geometric stomach tattoo is built symmetrically around the centre line of the body, so both sides read the same. This one runs from the sternum to below the navel.

Black and grey, a symmetrical rosette centred above the navel, with fine linework spreading up across the ribs and heavy black tapering down toward the hips.

It sits on the shoulder, between work that was already there on the arm and the neck. The rose sits under the web, and a spider holds the top corner.

A renaissance tattoo takes a scene out of a classical painting and rebuilds it on the body. This one covers a full back, shoulder to waist.

A winged figure carries the top of the back, with architecture and columns behind it, and more figures falling away underneath toward the lower back. All black and grey, no colour anywhere in it.
