Denver's Elektric Animals are making indie rock for anyone who likes their hooks catchy and their lyrics a little heartbreaking. ⚡️🖤

Pulling inspiration from everyone from The Cure and INXS to The Strokes and The National, the duo's latest single, "LULLABY," captures that sweet spot between melancholy and momentum.

They describe their sound best: "the kind of music that makes you feel happy to be sad."

Thank you to Shawn Alexander for securing the interview, and Will “Willobee” Carlan for VIP Access. He just signed the band to his new management company, 808AM. Hit the link in bio to discover Elektric Animals and read the full Artist Spotlight. 🎸✨

From being raised on Jimmy Buffett at age 2 to landing her first radio add with CHVRCHES, Marlee Ehrlich's path through alternative and rock has been built on great songs, great mentors, and a genuine love for the format. 🎙️⚡

As Senior Director of Alternative & Rock at Virgin Music Group, Marlee has helped champion artists across the genre while continuing to build on a career that started under the guidance of industry powerhouse Jacqueline Saturn.

We caught up with Marlee to talk first concerts, first records, first radio campaigns, and the moments that helped shape her journey through the music business.

Thanks to Shawn Alexander for the interview & follow for more stories from the people moving alt + rock forward. 🎸🖤

In honor of Shinedown’s new album release, we sat down with Zach Myers for an interview that had absolutely nothing to do with music. 🎸🔥

Instead, we asked the hard-hitting questions:
⚡️ Which member of the band would be the left foot of a giant Power Ranger
⚡️ What constitutes a proper gas station tour meal
⚡️ And what secretly makes someone deeply un-rock & roll

May not be the most important "journalism" we’ve ever done, but definitely the most fun. 🤘 Thanks to Kelsy, Tori, and Danica from the Digital Marketing Team aka Kelzana.

Before hosting middays at KBZT (Alt 94.9) in San Diego, Mady Rhodes was just a music fan figuring it out one concert, CD, and radio moment at a time. 🎸

From first concerts to first artist interviews and the influences that shaped her love for alternative rock, Mady’s Famous Firsts is a reminder that every career in music starts somewhere.

Thanks to Mady Rhodes for giving us a look into the experiences that helped shape her path in alternative radio and music culture for Famous Firsts.

He didn’t exactly ease into radio. He once filled in for a full show and quickly learned what happens when a “creative idea” goes very wrong on-air. Before hosting mornings at KROX (101X) in Austin, Sawyer Stull was already getting thrown into the deep end of broadcasting. 🎙️

From early sports commentary gigs to first concerts, first records, and early artist interviews in Austin’s live music scene, Sawyer’s Famous Firsts traces the moments that shaped his path into alternative radio.

Thanks to Sawyer Stull for sharing his story for Famous Firsts with Shawn Alexander.

Joyce Manor’s I Used to Go to This Bar, released this past January, marks an interesting moment in the band’s evolution both sonically and in how they approached the recording process. In this clip, Barry talks about working with Brett Gurewitz as producer and how that collaboration directly shaped the record. This conversation gives a bit of insight into that process and how the right producer can push an artist into a version of their work they might not have reached otherwise.

He’s back, he’s ordering his own custom nameplates, and he’s already demanding a raise from himself 👑

“The opportunity to join The Dave and Mahoney Morning Show and co-opt their success as a huge win for myself was something too good to pass up. Working with this show again will be a lesson in patience and resilience and will force me to question my sanity on a daily basis…but it will also be a lot of fun, just as long as they respect my COMPLETELY legitimate title of Regional Vice President of Executive Production and Programming.” - Ross "Bossy Rossy" Mahoney
