BEHIND THE MUSIC

With a smile on my face and the intention to be of service in my heart, no one would have known what was going on behind closed doors…

Music literally saved my life, and I don't say that lightly. It gave me a sense of purpose, a reason to live, and a chance to shine a light in the darkness.

The only time I wasn’t in pain was when I was on stage for that two-to-three-to-four-hour window. It was as if all time stood still, an altered state if you will.

The endorphins released probably had something to do with it, although I believe it was much more than that; it was a connection to the present moment, the only moment that was guaranteed.

If it wasn’t one thing, it was another, yet my spirit kept persevering. I played through full fevers, migraines, severe nausea, and more.

By the time I got home I could barely move, and sometimes, it would take me days to recover. I was tired and weary, but I never missed a gig as long as I had a voice. Like the old saying goes, the show must go on!
