Don’t get me wrong—I love a two-hour stroll through HomeGoods as much as anyone. 🙋🏼‍♀️

There’s absolutely a time and place for affordable décor. We’ve all had empty walls, tight budgets, or rooms that just needed something.

But buying original art is a different decision.

It’s choosing a piece because it resonates with you—not because it simply fills a space.

And here’s the best part: original art exists at all kinds of price points. You don’t have to be a seasoned collector to start collecting.

Invest in the piece you can’t stop thinking about.

Years from now, you probably won’t remember where your décor came from.

But you’ll remember the story behind the art.

If artists got paid every time someone said, “You get to paint all day? That sounds so relaxing,” our profit margins would look a whole lot better 🤑
*nods to all artists and creatives*

Here’s what painting actually looks like:

10% inspiration and excitement.
30% making a mess.
30% convincing yourself you’ve ruined everything.
25% fixing what you thought was ruined.
5% pretending you’ve known what you were doing all along.

You start full of confidence, then spend the next several hours questioning every decision you’ve ever made—your composition, your marriage (jk, honey ❤️), the plant you just bought even though you’ve killed the last three, why you live where you do... nothing is off limits.

Then you finish by sharing something deeply personal with strangers, acquaintances you’ll inevitably run into at the PTA event, and your closest friends and family. (I’m still not sure which audience is the most terrifying.)

It’s an oddly lonely job. No coworkers. No brainstorming sessions. Just me having ongoing conversations with myself and a canvas... (which can get a little unhinged).

All that said, I’m incredibly lucky to be doing this.

Just don’t confuse the studio with a sip-and-paint night, k? 🥂😉

Growth is the process of finding ourselves, over and over again ✨

Beautiful yet fragmented.
Old yet reimagined.
Serene with a touch of melancholy.
Familiar, but changed.

“You’ll never sell this! It’s SO ugly!”
Me: Just wait 😉

I’ve been struggling with composition so trying this new approach to see where it takes me ✨
