If you want to learn how to paint more loosely, freely, and confidently, this is exactly what we’ll practice in my next live Zoom painting class.

We’ll paint this expressive sunflower together, exploring loose brushwork, color, mark-making, and possibly the hardest lesson of all: knowing when to stop messing with it.

A relaxed Zoom class for anyone who wants to loosen up their style and enjoy the process a little more: September 14, 2026, at 8 pm EST. The link is in my bio!

This month is the last time I am offering standalone classes. Starting in October, my classes will only be available to my Art Club Members.

Thank you Sketchbooks! Testing a new sketchbook the only way I know how... with lots of water, loose marks, and flowers that definitely weren’t planned.
Sometimes the best pages happen when you stop trying to control them.
Would you paint in this sketchbook? Also, we will be painting such loose and expressive florals in September in my art club. Join us this month! Link in bio!

Beginner artists are often given vague advice without being shown what it actually means. “Loosen up.” “Don’t overwork it.” “Find your style.” None of that helps unless we explain how. Which piece of art advice has never made sense to you?

How do you know when a painting is finished?

I don’t think there’s one right answer. Sometimes it’s just that moment when the next mark isn’t really adding anything anymore.
Maybe knowing when to stop is part of the art too.
How do you know when you’re done?

Our first paint and chat!
Tonight we painted, chatted, experimented, and simply enjoyed creating together...no pressure, no perfection, just making art.
This is what I created while we talked. I loved seeing where it went without having a big plan.
Thank you to everyone who joined me for our first one! I think this might become one of my favorite parts of the Abstract Art Club. If you want to join the membership, link is in my bio or just comment here and I will message you the link to join.
