Transforms the park into a winter wonderland! We are seeking the support of local businesses and individuals to make this dream a reality.

The Lanesboro Legion Lights is an outdoor holiday lights display at Sylvan Park in Lanesboro, MN on every night from 5:00-11:00 pm Thanksgiving through New Years. Lanesboro, known for its quaint charm and vibrant community spirit, has the opportunity to become a beacon of holiday cheer in Southeastern Minnesota with the introduction of Legion Lights, an outdoor city holiday light display at Sylvan

Park from Thanksgiving through New Year’s. This initiative will not only illuminate our park but also boost local commerce and strengthen our community bonds. We are proud to have the Henry M. Guttormson Post #40 American Legion of Lanesboro as our esteemed naming sponsor, whose involvement underscores the value, commitment to our community and high standards of our initiative. Their support has significantly elevated our project's profile, and we are eager to collaborate with additional partners who share our vision and for this holiday lights display to help bring our community together during the holiday season to have this become a focal point for our community gatherings during this time fostering connection and camaraderie among residents. Legion Lights aims to create a spectacular holiday light display with some special events on the weekends that will:
• Transform Sylvan Park in Lanesboro into a winter wonderland.
• Attract visitors from neighboring towns and cities.
• Provide a festive, family-friendly attraction for residents.
• Encourage local shopping and dining during the holiday season. How You Can Help

And a special shout-out to owners Chelsey and Levi Skelly. It has been so fun watching what they’ve done with this beautiful historic hotel right in the heart of downtown Lanesboro. You can tell how much care they’ve put into bringing new life to the building while keeping all the charm that makes it so special.

We love seeing people invest in Lanesboro, become part of our community, and then turn around and support things like Legion Lights too. That means a lot to us.

🎄❤️ A Candy Cane thank you to Kathryn & Gary Wade! ❤️🎄

This one is pretty special. Kathryn is the person who really took the idea of Legion Lights and ran with it! ✨ She brought people together, developed committees, worked with volunteers and people throughout the community, and has played such a huge role in making Legion Lights what it is today.

And Gary has been right there alongside her. Together, these two do so much for Lanesboro, and they are also just plain fun to be around! We are so lucky to have them in our community. ❤️

🎄 A little Bluff Tree update! 🎄

Things are coming together! This crew has been busy attaching the light strings to cables and getting all those bulbs in place. And yes, there are A LOT of them! 😂💡

It may still be August, but behind the scenes, work on our newly restored Bluff Tree is well underway. There’s a lot that has to happen before those lights can shine over Lanesboro again, and it’s pretty exciting to see it taking shape!

A huge thank you to everyone putting in the time and helping make this happen. ❤️🎄

🍦🎄 A Sweet Christmas in July Thank You! 🎄🍦

We’re so happy to welcome Jeanette Kappers, Angie Strain and Jackie Horsman, the three sisters behind The Scoop, and thank them for jumping right in and supporting Legion Lights with a generous Candy Cane Level contribution! ❤️🤍

The Scoop may be a new name in Lanesboro, but it carries on a longtime tradition in that familiar pink ice cream shop downtown, formerly Another Time Ice Cream Parlor. We love their commitment to featuring Minnesota-made and locally produced products, including Bridgeman’s ice cream. 🍦

Okay, technically it’s August 😄, but our Christmas in July campaign runs through August 31, so there are still a few days left to join in!

Donations made during Christmas in July receive DOUBLE recognition. We’re recognizing our supporters now, and we’ll recognize them again in early 2027! ❤️

Our 2026 sponsorship levels are:

✨ Twinkle Lights – up to $99
🔔 Jingle Bell – $100–$249
🍭 Candy Cane – $250–$499
❄️ Snowflake – $500–$999
🌟 North Star – $1,000+

🌲 And something extra special for 2026: Anyone who contributes $250 or more this year will also be permanently recognized on the Bluff Tree restoration plaque.
