Friends & Community Members, we are seeking an old wooden soap box for our upcoming performance. If you have one or know someone who's willing to lend it to us, we promise we will take good care of it. Full disclosure: people would be standing on it!

We are thrilled to announce...

A.R.T. (Audacious Raw Theater), in collaboration with Lanesboro Arts is celebrating its 10th season of devised works! And we are celebrating with two very different performances.

Our first night, Friday, August 7th at the St. Mane Theatre, will feature: A Really Raw Retrospective! Some of our core ensemble members, including Jerome Yorke, Hilary Williams, and Penelope Walker, will return to the stage. Other past ensemble members Dominque Jones, Lewis Youngren, Laura Gentry, Diane Knight, and Jack Uldrich will join us as well. And last but certainly not least, we will feature some Lanesboro community members, Cyan and Peter Ruen. The evening's performance at the St. Mane will feature both old and new works celebrating 10 Years of devised theater-making and the rawdacious lessons we've learned along the way!

On Saturday afternoon, August 8th at 3 pm in the North Campfire Circle at Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center, Catie Glynn, Jerome Yorke and Hilary Williams will present These Sovereign Woods. In this work, we will ask ourselves and our audience members if and how we can find Common Ground on the polarizing topic of The Second Amendment and the rise in gun violence in America. Having met with community members to gather input and share insights, and combined with bold movement work, we aim to wrap up our third and final installment of our Common Ground Series. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board (MSAB), thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.

Friends, as we head into 2026, I am thrilled to announce that I have received a Minnesota State Arts Board grant to help support the third and final installment of our "Common Ground" Series.

This final installment will explore what it means to find common ground with our friends, neighbors, and community members with whom we may not see eye to eye on Common Sense Gun Laws and the Second Amendment.

Together, as with our past Common Ground performances, There is a Field (which explored reproductive rights) and Surf & Turf: Stories of Water & Earth (which explored climate change), we will be meeting with groups of people to talk about their stories and viewpoints, and to create a devised theatrical work called In These Sovereign Woods.

We know that each of these topics is politically charged and could spark divisive discussions.

But here at -Audacious Raw Theater, we believe in the possibility of unity by listening to and creating work inspired by our local community.

If you are interested in hosting a house party or talking with us about this project...drop us a line!

This event is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
