Redefining Playful Art in Public Spaces

We’d like to introduce you to another one of our lovely teaching artists, Margo! We’ve had the pleasure of creating alongside them since the Spring of 2025 ✨

Margo Butler is a multimedia artist and educator raised in the woodlands of Northern Wisconsin and currently based in Minneapolis. Working primarily in watercolor, illustration, and ceramics, their artistic practice explores the deep interconnection between humans and the ecosystems we inhabit.

As an art educator, Margo is passionate about supporting young people in using creative expression as a tool for self discovery, community building, and global awareness. In addition to their work with Now.Make.Art., they’ve taught and collaborated with orgs like Art to Change the World, Monroe Street Arts Center, and Abrakadoodle.

With a strong commitment to environmental justice, Margo also engages youth and communities in hands-on connections with nature. They’ve led wilderness canoe and kayak trips with YMCA Camp Icaghowan, facilitated gardening and nature art workshops, and served as Education Director at The People’s Farm in Madison, WI.

Margo believes the arts can be a powerful bridge between people and the natural world, fostering reflection and action in response to the climate crisis.

Time to highlight another of our amazing staff! Rachel has been building up young artists alongside Now.Make.Art. as a Teaching Artist since the spring of 2025 💛

Rachel Avenido is a Filipino American printmaker, educator, and mixed media artist based in her hometown of Saint Paul, Minnesota. They have a degree in Graphic Design - Print Media from Minneapolis College and hold a Bachelor’s in Political Science, Spanish, and Latino/Latin American studies from the College of Saint Benedict.

Rachel has experience educating a wide range of communities, from Early Childhood Family Education in St Paul and Justice Alan Page Elementary in Maplewood, to the general public attending live screen-printing events around the Twin Cities with Print At My Event. Since then she has been expanding her portfolio with illustrations, block printing, and cyanotype prints. Rachel enjoys encouraging people of any age and experience to add art as a daily practice as a way to understand oneself and relate to a wider community. They especially enjoy creating art with her two nephews.

We are so happy to have Rachel on our team! ✨

✨ Gather with your neighbors this Saturday, September 19 for a day of inspiring art as we organize around the essence of what makes Frogtown great: each other and community!

✨Find Now.Make.Art. in the Kidz Zone with CLAY CITY from 3-6 pm! We’ll mold, poke, and build up the city of our dreams together using clay, tools, found gems, and more. 🎨

Hosted by 825 Arts and Frogtown Neighborhood Association, the Frogtown Arts Fest features local performers, arts vendors, arts work shops, and food.

We figured it’s time to highlight our amazing staff! Anna joined Now. Make. Art. as a Teaching Artist for our camps this summer, where she empowered students to create intuitively and hold the self belief that they too, are artists. 😍

Anna Bjorge is a Twin Cities-based muralist and multilingual educator who uses her creative platform to advocate for youth, nature, and the arts. In 2024, she founded Aldri Alene Art, an initiative rooted in the belief that public art should be accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. Through leading collaborative school murals and community-driven projects, Anna cultivates environments where art serves as a universal language, a bridge for connection, communication, and the shared wonder of our big and beautiful world.

We’ve got a NEW Process Art Adventure for you this Saturday! 📖💭🎨 Join us for an interactive storytelling of What do you do with an idea (Kobi Yamada), followed by multiple process art stations for you and your little ones!

You’ll have the chance to contribute to a collective sculpture, experiment with giving clay texture, or share your ideas and pop them in an envelope. ✉️💡
