Wild Nellys World

Wild Nellys World Wild Nelly's World I have spent my life immersed in art. A few years ago, I started Wild Nelly's World. I design re-purposed and altered jewelry.

I began as an Architect with a minor in Interior Design, worked as a landscape designer and trained Bonsai. Architecture uses a lot of problem solving skills. I suppose it was inevitable that I was drawn toward jewelry that is like a puzzle-- combining scavenged metal, sewing notions, vintage jewelry parts and transforming them into beauty. Design principles carry over into all art forms.

I am truly honored that the Victor Chamber of Commerce and the Ganondagan State Historic Society has nominated me for a Women of Excellence Award. My thanks and adoration to Karen Guiderelli who advocated for me to receive The Lantern Award.

The Lantern Award formally honors the passion, vision and commitment of exemplary women based on a tribal leader named Jikohnsaseh. She was instrumental in forming the Five Nations Confederacy which was founded on the message of peace, health and justice and one that predated the American constitution by 750 years. Jikohnsaseh had great vision and wisdom and above all she had a passion for her people to share peace and equal rights for all women.

I welcome you to come and celebrate with me as I humbly accept an award named after Jikohnsaseh. The annual award dinner will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 6:00-9:00pm at Ravenwood Golf Club.

The wretched-filled drawers of bras.
Send these, to the needy tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”

Thanks Emma Lazarus for your "support" to my cause with your rendition originally written for the Statue of Liberty.

Architect, Drafter/ Designer and Carpenter all working together to make a collapsible 3 foot tall Christmas Stocking to place in the Victor Library for every Christmas season. Patrons are invited to place donated new books in it. These books will go inside real Christmas Stockings for the needy. My good friend Nick Cameron, an excellent carpenter that I have stretched his ingenuity to the limit numerous times made me a collapsible Christmas Stocking using the CAD plans that another good friend Kim Yourch (Drafter/Designer and I (Architect) planned out. A little overkill for the above mentioned project? Most certainly, but what fun we had for a needy cause. I will post a picture of the stocking next week once the finishing touches are done.

This spring will be the third year that I have participated in Mud Creek Cooperative. How so few Farmers and Helpers get all that work done and produce amazing results is beyond me. You don’t have to help with the CSA but Ruth, our Farmer Guru accepts help with open arms. Every week I come to pic…

THE VICTOR/FARMINGTON CHRISTMAS STOCKING PROGRAM FINANCIAL REPORT:

Yesterday, Fedex delivered 1000 Toppers and 500 stockings to my door. I put $945.23 on my personal credit card and I truly hope I can find a company, organization or group of people who can help with financial reimbursement sooner than later.

The program handed out 338 stockings this year, 40% more stockings than last year and I see a continuous growth in the future. Each age group needs an additional 20 stockings for selection and last minute additions. That is an extra 100 stockings for breathing room. The final estimate is 543 prepared stockings needed for next year’s program. I use Excel sheets to keep track of the number, age and s*x in each age group, as well as how many children and families we accommodate. Our families are always so grateful.

In the last five years I have run the program these are donations I have received:

*Filled stockings from the High School Key Club, National Honor Society and the Leadership Class as well as Girl Scouts.
*Last year Day Automations graciously foot the bill for stockings.
*A local shop generously donates items yearly.
*Three local dentists have donated toothpaste and toothbrushes every year.
*An artist friend has twice sent me $25 checks to help with the budget.
*A jewelry artist friend donated a large number of beautiful jewelry the last two years for teenage girls.
*Rotary donated $100 toward the cause this year even though they already help a stocking program for inner-city kids.
*Last year the Salvation Army Rep had enough in his budget to give us $300 worth of Walmart vouchers. My Principle Manager- who is also my 18-year-old daughter- went shopping with me, her enthusiasm soon waned as she discovered how little you can buy with $300 no matter how frugal you shop.
*One store donates items whenever their head office sends a memo to throw out unwanted merchandise. I take the items that would help my program and donate the rest to other local non-profit organizations.
*A wonderful Estate Sale Business lets me come the second day of their sales to search for school supplies, toys, books, etc. that were never used and blankets, coats and gloves for the Food Cupboard programs. It is amazing how much people accumulate.

As you can see, I have worked with a catch-as-one-can budget scavenging for donations. The rest comes out of my pocket. I spend approximately $650 throughout the year- the amount alters, and buy items that will fill in the gaps. I bought out the rest of Bath and Body's hand sterilizer travel packs for only 25 cents each recently and a basket full of $20 Ear Plugs marked down to $2 a piece. I bought 11 new backpacks that were 50% off at Goodwill- OK so that was really for the school supply program.

I am thrilled that the Victor/ Farmington Christmas Stocking Program is a success, but it has evolved into a program that can no longer operate out of my house. This is what I need:
* A Sponsor that will pay for stocking and toppers.
* A second Sponsor for extra costs; additional fillers for stockings, ink, labels, etc.
* A third Sponsor who can donate a heated space where large tubs of extra stockings and accumulated donations throughout the year can be stored. The space would also need to be accessible throughout the year by me and large enough for Volunteers to spread out and organize stockings in November, December and January.

We have 16.4% children in our school district that need the free or assisted lunch program. That number does not include children who are too young to go to school or children who live in families that are too proud to ask for assistance.

Who is willing to stand up and offer assistance to The Victor/Farmington Christmas Stocking Program? I am willing to run and expand the program but I need people to help take the financial burden off my shoulders. If you have read this entire message through, I truly appreciate your care and understanding.

Namaste.

I love nature. In the summer, I run around in the woods with my camera like a child looking for surprises- a Praying Mantis, an odd mushroom, a baby deer. Although winter is part of nature, in the eyes of someone like me, who has zero tolerance for the zero degree weather, I enjoy nature from the in…

My daughter Margo is applying for scholarships to attend college next year. I am so proud of what she wrote. Since she was a little girl, she happily worked with me on my community programs. Her worldly views to help people shows that her life experiences made such a difference. You go girl!! Please take the time to read and vote for her essay if you are so obliged.

"Hey everyone!
Right now, I am really enjoying my year in Sweden, but looking ahead to studying at college next year. I am applying for scholarships, and was wondering if you had the time if you could click on the link, and vote for my essay for a scholarship contest. Hope everyone is doing well, thanks!!"
