To all in the path of Hurricane Florence please stay safe. Try to plan as much as possible for after the hurricane as much as the duration of the storm, just in case. A few tips, if you are not evacuating, that you may or may not have considered.
*Make sure you have plenty of batteries for flashlights and radios. Cell reception and cable/satellite tv may be interrupted.
*If you don't have a generator, consider getting a power inverter that you can connect to your car to provide some power if needed.
*Get extension cords long enough to reach from your car to your house/apartment if needed.
*Fill up on gas and have some reserves that you can store in a safe place (not inside with you).
*freeze milk jugs 3/4 full of water (the water will expand when it freezes).
*Get a decent supply of bottled water.
*Pick up some glow sticks for emergency lighting if needed. *Put together a decent first aid kit where it can be easily reached and kept dry.
*Freeze any food that you don't immediately need in case you are without electricity for any length of time. The longer it stays cold the longer it will last.
*If you have a gas grill, fill up on fuel for it. I had to use mine for two weeks for day to day cooking back in '04
I want you to be safe. These are a few things I've learned from personal experience over the last many years with the hurricanes that have come through Florida.
