🌺 Ke'ena Saturday

Studio Saturday is all about getting the creative space ready for another week of making. 🧶✨

This Saturday, I'll be spending some time organizing my workspace, clearing the clutter, and getting things back where they belong.

A tidy studio doesn't have to stay tidy for long around here. 😂 That's usually just the calm before the next yarn storm.

But for now, we're making a little room to create, one corner at a time. 🌺🧶

🌻 Pau Friday

From an idea on paper to a finished pattern. 🌻🧶

After plenty of stitching, tweaking, testing, and probably a little bit of pattern-induced hair pulling, the Hanging Sunflower crochet pattern is finished! 💛

🧶 Technique Thursday: Magic Circle vs. Ch 2 Method

When you're starting a crochet project worked in the round, there are two common ways to create that first round: the magic circle and the chain 2 method.

🌀 Magic Circle
The magic circle gives you an adjustable center that can be pulled tightly closed, making it especially useful for amigurumi and projects where you want a nice, tight starting point.

🔗 Chain 2 Method
Not a fan of magic circles? No problem! Chain 2, then work your beginning stitches into the second chain from your hook. It's simple, reliable, and a great alternative when you're still getting comfortable with the magic circle.
Neither method is “wrong.” They're simply two different ways to get your project started. Choose the one that works best for you and your project. 🌺

🌺 WIP Wednesday

There’s a hibiscus on my hook. 🌺🧶

This one is still very much a work in progress, as I’m working through the details and bringing a new pattern design to life stitch by stitch.

I love this stage of creating. There’s still plenty to figure out, but somewhere between the yarn, the hook, and a little patience, the idea starts becoming something real.

I can't wait to show you where this one ends up. 🌺✨

🌺 Laʻi Sunday

Some days are meant to move a little slower. 🌿

Today was one of those days. I spent some time enjoying the quiet, taking in a little nature, and letting myself breathe before settling in with my yarn.

And, of course, “taking it easy” somehow turned into working on a brand-new pattern design. 😂🧶

Sometimes the best ideas come when you stop pushing and simply give yourself room to create.

Here's to slow Sundays, creative sparks, and letting the work unfold at its own pace. 🌺

🪝✨ Technique Thursday ✨🪝

A smooth color change can make all the difference in a crochet project.

Instead of finishing the last stitch of one color completely, try adding the new color during the final yarn over of that stitch. This creates a cleaner transition and helps your color changes look crisp and intentional.

It's a small technique, but little details like this can make your finished projects look even more polished.
