R. Carlos Nakai holds a Master’s Degree in American Indian Studies from the University of Arizona and an honorary doctorate from Northern Arizona University. He joins scholars Pamela Freund-Striplen and Robert Sims to present a panel discussion at Chamber Music America's National conference titled "Curating Connection: How Cultural Crossroads: Dvorak in America came to life". This wonderful program (showing the Indigenous and African American influences on Antonín Dvořák) shows a side of R. Carlos Nakai that many don't know.
Here is a short example of RC's original chamber music by the master of the Native flute accompanied by the Ciompi Quartet, Will Clipman, and Freund-Striplen, who is also a violist.

What's the right gift to bring to a meeting with a scholar to discuss our Dvořák project? Why, her own copy of Michael Beckerman's "New Worlds of Dvořák: Searching in America for the Composer's Inner Life," of course!

High praise for our performance Musical Instrument Museum - MIM!

A patron writes: “I attended the Cultural Cross Roads Dvorak in America concert recently at the MIM in Phoenix. My wife and I enjoyed it immensely. We’ve been to many shows at that venue and put it in our top three. If you know the eclectic acts that pass through there, it is a high mark.”

Bravo to the musicians R. Carlos Nakai Robert Sims Will Clipman Ciompi Quartet Pamela Freund-Striplen. Booking agent: Marian Liebowitz
