Hope you all can join us!

The 20th Cinema On The Bayou Film Festival, an eight-day international, juried film festival, is pleased to announce that it will open on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, with a Red Carpet U.S. Premiere of the Pat Mire feature film "Pointe Noire." The film stars Roy Dupuis and Myriam Cyr, along with Michael Bienvenu and Zachary Richard. It was filmed throughout Acadiana, including Sunset, Lyons Point, Eunice, Cade and Lafayette. Many of the film's participants will be in attendance, including Canadian film star Roy Dupuis.

Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. at St. Landry Cinema, 1234 Heather Dr., Opelousas, with a pre-screening Red Carpet reception. The film will screen at 7:00 p.m., followed by an after-screening reception at 9:30 p.m. at Cite des Arts, 109 Vine St., Lafayette, where there will be a cash bar and complimentary hors dโ€™oeuvres.

Tickets for the opening night film screening and reception are $20 per person and should be purchased in advance at www.cinemaonthebayou.com.

In this beautifully shot film, filmmaker and crawfisherman Louis Leger (Roy Dupuis) and criminal defense attorney Dolores Arceneaux (Myriam Cyr) join forces in the Cajun prairie community of Pointe Noire in an effort to save the life of Joel Richard (Michael Bienvenu), a falsely accused man on Louisiana's Death Row. What follows is a search to find out what really happened 30 years ago when two people were killed on the night of the traditional courir de Mardi Gras. Along the way, Louis and Dolores uncover an isolated community striving to achieve its own form of folk justice.

During its 8-day run, the Festival will screen over 150 films from across the U.S. and around the World. The films, primarily World, International, and U.S. Premieres, include nearly 50 French language films. Visiting filmmakers will be in attendance from New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Shreveport, Montreal, Toronto, Quebec City, Paris and Berlin.

Information on all films and a complete schedule of events, including film screenings, expert panel discussions and social events, can be found at www.cinemaonthebayou.com, where individual tickets and All-Access Passes ($100) can be purchased.

Cinema on the Bayou Film Society, a non-profit Section 501(c)(3) Louisiana corporation, presents Cinema on the Bayou Film Festival, Louisianaโ€™s second oldest film festival. Sponsors include the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission, Citรฉ des Arts, Acadiana Cinemas, Teamwork Solutions, Cadence Post, the Whirlybird, Festival Les Percรฉides and Le Festival international du cinรฉma francophone en Acadie (FICFA).

"Pointe Noire" will have its Louisiana premiere on January 22 at the Cinema on the Bayou Film Festival in Lafayette.
