Tuesday’s Members Meeting was informative and inspirational! As guest speaker, Dirk Guidry captivated the audience describing his most recent “Flux” series, as well as, sharing his experiences as an involved member of our local art community! Also, as co-founder of BARE Walls, an art subscription service, Dirk provided information to our members about this valuable opportunity for emerging and established artists. Go to www.BAREWALLSLAFAYETTE.com for more information about this program and don’t forget to stop by the LAA through March 18th to view Dirk’s work!

We have some very EXCITING news today! 👏
🕺🏾👨‍👩‍👧🎨💃🏼

We have partnered with local nonprofits, businesses, and entrepreneurs to produce community programming for all of Acadiana at Moncus Park!

These programs focus on three core pillars: arts and culture, health and wellness, and environmental education. Programs range from dance and yoga classes to French lessons and more! These classes and seminars cater to ALL ages and are ✨FREE✨ to the public. Classes begin tomorrow!

To see the first quarter programming schedule or become a programming partner visit www.moncuspark.org/events.

BIG THANKS to our first quarter programming partners who helped us make this possible:

Stretch -N- Grow: Yoga and Fitness Classes
CrossFit Acadiana: Bridging Fitness and Healthcare
ZydeFit: ZydeFit Workout Class
École Saint-Landry: French en plein air (French outdoors)
Lafayette Art Association & Gallery: Visual Art Activities
Gayle Webre: Presentation of When I Was An Alligator
Spoken Red: Dance Classes
Kicking off Christmas in the Park's Live Art installation is Margo & Bonnie from the Lafayette Art Association & Gallery on December 16.

As teachers and lovers of art, Margo and Bonnie have spent years perfecting their craft and we are excited to see their vision of Christmas in the Park come to life before our very eyes!!

We are honored to feature some of the most incredible artists in the Acadiana area during the most wonderful time of the year! 🎄🤩❄️⛄️
I've just recently started to get into photography as a hobby. Definitely learning the ropes by taking pics in the area on road trips etc. I'd like to start a group called Cajun Snappers Camera Club to meet other photobuffs in the area and share the hobby. If you are interested, snap to it and contact me about joining. Be glad to have you!
We are fortunate to have a vibrant partnership with the Lafayette Art Association & Gallery. They set up art exhibitions throughout the year at the Main Library downtown for patrons to experience. Currently we feature the artwork of Dusty Reed, Susan Chiquelin, and Jamie Beck. Visit the Main Library's second and third floor now through July 15 to enjoy it!
Can anyone tell me something about this piece and the artist?
Build a FUNky Fish 🐟 with Trish Ransom at the Lafayette Art Association & Gallery on Saturday, April 10th from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. All materials supplied!

Great safe opening, thank you LAA, social distancing & masks are required...hand sanitizer...all of this & talented artists & art...
Artists utilize art in any form to express themselves in a creative manner. The beautiful thing about art is that it is unique and resembles originality. This concept was visually displayed when I watched Audrey Flack’s film, “Queen of Hearts: Audrey Flack” on Film Festival Flix. She goes in-depth about her creative and artistic process and how she chose art as the way she can express herself while also doing something she is passionate about. Film Festival Flix has been the online streaming platform that has given me the opportunity to stream informative and entertaining films. “Queen of Hearts: Audrey Flack” has definitely been my favorite film so far and I got to obtain so much valuable information. If you are looking for a platform that offers a channel of genres, Film Festival Flix is the platform for that!
Today is a very sad day. I learned today that my friend, Patricia Gannon, has passed. Patricia was an arts advocate and wrote the first article on my work years ago. We’d never met before that time but ever since then, over the years, I looked forward to seeing and talking with her at art events. She was a very intelligent, interesting person and her writing in The Advocate was entertaining, witty and usually carried a barb at the end. If you met Patricia, you loved her, if you only read her writings, you respected her. Taken too soon, this world is a lesser place with her absence. Our hearts go out to her loved ones.
Damn, I’m going to miss her.
It is so good to see LAA doing well with such a diversified program. Kudos for all the hard work!
