We are a non-profit organization committed to preserving the history and cultural heritage of downtown La Grange, fostering economic growth by creating a welcoming downtown. The La Grange Kentucky Main Street Program is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure that our historic city thrives for generations to come. One goal of our program is to ensure the preservation of La Grange's tw

o historic districts listed on the National Registry of Historical Places. We also organize events throughout the year that provide entertainment, enrichment, and engagement for our residents and guests. The Main Street Program directs the Farmer's Market each summer, as well as Light Up La Grange in December, along with many other events that bring locals and travelers to Main Street. We believe that community events provide a conduit for our culture to be preserved and passed on to future generations. Our hope is that you will visit with us often and experience for yourself all that La Grange has to offer. We sincerely ask that if you have a legitimate complaint about our city or a post on this page, please share your concerns privately. Our aim is to always be improving and legitimately earning the title given to us as the Kindness Capital of Kentucky!

Do you know who this is? 📜✨ Meet Lt. Col. William Oldham!

Born in Virginia in 1753, he served as a Revolutionary War captain in the Continental Forces before moving west in 1779. Upon settling in Kentucky, he became heavily involved in local politics and built a life here, marrying Penelope Pope and raising four children.

Tragically, Col. Oldham lost his life on November 4, 1791, during the Battle of St. Clair’s Defeat alongside roughly 630 fellow servicemembers.

His legacy lived on, and 33 years after his death, Oldham County was officially established and named in his honor! 🏛️
