It’s jacaranda season in Upcountry Maui 💜

For Curtis, these trees have long been a source of inspiration. In paintings like "Grandmother Jacaranda", he captures the warm highlights and cool shadows that make these flowers so uniquely beautiful.

Take a look behind the scenes as he brings one of his most beloved subjects to life.

Easel jungle gyms, random paintings in the living room, and constant lessons in art were the everyday reality of growing up as the children of Curtis Wilson Cost. Swipe to see some pics of the Cost kids as children. In the last 2 pictures you will see Curtis' art studio under construction, circa 1989.

With the influence of their surroundings, Curtis and Jill Cost's children have grown to be artists in their own right. Learn more about the Curtis Wilson Cost family of artists on the "Meet the Family" page of our website.
