Union Pacific 4014 Big Boy crossing the Grand River in Ohio and a closer experience near Walnut Creek in Erie. If you get a chance go check it out, it’s pretty incredible. I hope to see it again in July when it come through my home town.

Union Pacific is commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary with a historic, first-ever coast-to-coast steam tour featuring the legendary Big Boy No. 4014, the world’s largest operating steam locomotive. I used Google Maps to find a bridge crossing in Painesville Ohio. I drove there early Tuesday morning with hopes of getting a view of the train crossing the Grand River. When I got there crowds were already starting to gather and I had about 8 hours to kill. I picked out a spot and went for a hike in a local park to pass the time. Made some new friends that were also waiting for the train. I went back to my spot to beat the crowds and get set up with a few hours to spare. It all worked out in the end I’m really happy with the results.
