Please welcome Sinkane to the Prater Day roster! Interested in a show? Hit up [email protected] and [email protected]!

Sinkane is a Sudanese-American musician who blends krautrock, prog rock, electronica, free jazz and funk rock with Sudanese pop. He is signed to City Slang Records.

He recently released his 8th studio album, “We Belong”.
It’s pop. It’s funk. It’s electronic. It blends the gritty punk newness of a 70s and 80s New York with the steady, foundational soul of the rhythms of his native Sudan. It moves and travels—through words and eras, through emotion and healing. Gallab calls this album his “love letter to Black music,” and each track pulses with the energy of different eras and forms: the gospel-soaked “Everything Is Everything,” the dreamy, Quiet Storm-influenced Afro-beats of “Rise Above,” the 70s-funk of “We Belong” and its Sly Stone influence, the Stevie Wonder-edged “Another Day”—they tell a story about Black music and Black people.

Please welcome Denitia to the Praterday Roster!

Texas-born and Nashville-based artist Denitia grew up outside Houston, immersed in school choir and learning multiple instruments. Influenced by country legends, praise and worship music, and alternative rock, she moved to Nashville for college and spent a decade in Brooklyn before returning to her country music roots. Her 2022 album, Highways, is an “alt-country ramble” acclaimed for its tuneful and melancholic nature. Denitia’s return to the genre earned her recognition as an Artist to Watch by NPR, a residency with Black Opry and WXPN, and inclusion in Rissi Palmer’s Color Me Country Class of 2023. Recently named a 2024 CMT Next Woman of Country and a 2024 Artist to Watch by Nashville Scene, she made her debut at the Grand Ole Opry in June 2024. Denitia’s upcoming album, Sunset Drive, is described as a louder evolution of Highways, weaving heartache, romance, and wanderlust into a bittersweet narrative about life’s journey.

Please welcome Half Gringa to the Praterday roster!

Emerging from Chicago’s flourishing indie music scene, Half Gringa creates music informed by contemporary indie-rock and Latin American and midwestern folk. “When you grew up in the Midwest really into alternative rock, but heard a lot of country music in the supermarket,” offers Isabel Olive, the songwriter and multi-instrumentalist at the core of Half Gringa, when asked to place her music in a specific genre. “Or when your mom loved Bruce Springsteen and Maná and sometimes your brain starts playing them at the same time.” The name Half Gringa is both a tribute to and study of her legacy, stemming from a childhood term of endearment as “la Gringa” in her Venezuelan family and her bicultural experience growing up in the United States. Olive’s work seeks to narrate her tireless pursuit as a pupil of both her origins and her experiences. Her latest EP “Ancestral Home” was released in January 2023.
