Feels a bit like Christmas in the wax room.

Building inventory for the galleries heading into summer—and testing a new wax the foundry recommended.

Firmer. Slightly warmer tone. Way better to work with.

Slushes beautifully and holds detail like a dream.

Always something new to learn in this process.

I’m very happy to share that my work is now represented by Martin House Gallery in beautiful Blowing Rock, North Carolina.

The gallery is housed in The Martin House—built in 1870 and one of the oldest buildings in Blowing Rock.

Originally a private residence, it became a boarding house in the 1880s as travelers made their way into the mountains. As tourism grew, the building evolved with the town—eventually becoming part of the Main Street shops that define Blowing Rock today.

That sense of continuity is part of what makes this place special.

A space that has welcomed visitors for generations—now serving as a home for fine art.

Grateful to have my work included here. If you’re in the area this season, I’d encourage you to stop in!

Named for a Cherokee title often interpreted as “king-like,” this piece explores leadership expressed through presence rather than force. Subtle asymmetries and surface variation suggest an individual shaped by experience, not idealized form. Authority here is quiet, grounded, and inevitable.

This work will be cast in bronze in a limited edition of 15.

Size: 24″ × 19″ × 30″

Finishing touches in clay on my lates piece "Skiagusta".
Named for a Cherokee title often interpreted as “king-like,” this piece explores leadership expressed through presence rather than force. The bear advances with calm authority — weight carried without aggression, power felt rather than displayed.

I’m just a few days away from finalizing my Bear Necessities 1.0 series, and I thought I’d do a flashback to the very first piece I created—back when it was all still just in my head. This rough study was done to help me get familiar with the facial details, proportions, anatomy, and overall feel of a black bear before moving into more complex pieces.

Family Time is now available on my website as fine art giclée prints.

Inspired by evenings near Newfound Gap, just a short drive from my studio, this piece reflects a deeply personal connection to place and the enduring bond between mother and cubs.

With Morning After, I wanted to explore a lighter, more human moment within the powerful presence of the black bear. This large boar is cast at rest, draped casually over the plinth as though the weight of the night has finally caught up with him. His relaxed posture and unguarded sprawl suggest a bear who has indulged a bit too fully—confident, self-assured, and entirely unconcerned with appearances.

While the pose carries a subtle sense of humor, the sculpture remains grounded in mass, balance, and form. The bear’s sheer size contrasts with his moment of vulnerability, allowing the piece to sit comfortably between strength and levity. Morning After invites the viewer to pause, smile, and recognize a familiar fatigue rendered in bronze—an unguarded glimpse of character beneath the power.

Available for purchase through my website.
