The Birth of The Va**na Store
It began quite literally as a joke. My best friend and I had been bouncing creative business ideas back and forth for years. I came up with the idea of having an all-encompassing ‘women’s center’ that would include everything from favorite women products to ‘how to give an or**sm’ classes. A space to host events and shows featuring female authors, artists & musicians. Offering mom-to-be programs with doulas, midwives & lactation counseling. A creative studio space including belly & b**b casting among other crafts. An all encompassing “Va**na Store” that would educate, empower, and entertain with a focus on all things woman.
We weren’t ready for a brick and mortar & my idea was shot down. A few days and glasses of wine later, I visited my cousin upstate. Casually discussing my idea, she said to me “Dude, start a website.” I thought to myself, there’s no way in hell the domain is available. It was. Then I thought, it’s gonna be thousands of dollars to buy. It wasn’t. Before I knew it I was the owner of www.TheVa**naStore.com and celebrating it’s birth! Despite people telling me that I would need to hire a web designer, I nerded out and built the whole website myself. #thankgodforyoutube #f**khtml
My next goal was to create works of art that were va**na/women themed to list and sell them on the site. The plan was to donate a portion of the sales to various women’s charities around the world, bringing awareness to things like human trafficking & women’s rights.
Life got in the way and the project took a backseat. Two years later, The Va**na Store is ready to break it’s h***n. Teaming up with my best friend (aka making her do all the hard s**t) we are redesigning the site and officially birthing The Va**na Store.
