Summer is almost here, so let’s get ready to make some art! 🎨✨
I’m excited to announce I’ll be teaching several creative classes this summer at Gaston College, including a one-week teen art camp for ages 13–18 and adult art classes beginning in June!
Titled: Materials Matter, the teen art camp is designed for budding artists who want to explore creativity beyond traditional art supplies. Students will create unique works using a wide variety of materials and surfaces — including recycled objects, discarded jewelry, found trinkets, magazines, yarn, fabric, and more — while learning how contemporary artists use unconventional materials to tell stories and express ideas.
Throughout the week, students will experiment with mixed media techniques and complete the projects listed below:

🧵 Day 3: Yarn/Fabric “Painting”
♻️ Day 4: Recycled & Found Object Diorama
These classes are meant to encourage imagination, creative problem-solving, and artistic confidence in a fun and supportive environment. I can’t wait to see what students create this summer!
For adults looking to explore their creativity, a variety of hands-on workshops will also be offered beginning in June. Each class is beginner friendly and designed to be engaging and creatively inspiring.
Adult class offerings include:
🎨 Getting Loose: Intuitive Painting — focused on breaking perfectionist habits and loosening your approach through timed rounds of mark-making, quick decisions, and layered composition across the entire canvas.
🖼️ Collage Landscape — combining paper, paint, and imagery to create rich, textured scenes.
✨ Beaded Wall Hanging — design a one-of-a-kind piece using beads, natural materials, and found objects.
🐾 Paint Your Pet — learn basic painting techniques, including color mixing and simplifying shapes, to turn your pet’s photo into a personalized portrait.
