‼️ THIS ‼️I met a legend today.
Although Staples had not yet called to tell me my order was ready, I felt prompted to go early. Good thing I did, the order was incorrect and needed to be redone.
While I waited, I listened to praise and worship through my earphones, encouraged the overwhelmed employee behind the counter, and simply remained present in the moment.
When he finally showed me the corrected foam board, a woman approached me with genuine warmth and curiosity.
She complimented the display and began asking questions:
"What is it for?"
"Who are you?"
"Where are you from?"
As I shared, she became increasingly engaged.
I explained that I am an author preparing for a launch event. The foam board was a donation display because multiple people had asked how they could support EXHIBIT TAY. I told her I am not one to solicit, but wanted to provide an option for those who had requested it.
She then asked about my books.
I shared that my hope is to help people acknowledge and overcome adversity, renew their mindset, and pursue peace.
Next, she asked whether the message was geared toward a particular age group.
I explained that the work has resonated with people across generations, ethnicities, genders, professions, and backgrounds—from middle and high school programs to churches and legal communities. Human emotion transcends demographics.
She smiled and said, "I was meant to meet you today."
Then she shared some of the adversity she is currently facing, with her attorney standing right beside her.
What began as a simple conversation became a sacred moment.
By then, the employees and customers nearby seemed drawn into the exchange. In the middle of what had been a busy, chaotic environment, there was a noticeable sense of peace.
We rejoiced together, encouraged one another, she graciously received my books making sure Insigned them so she could tell evwryone about me, and we exchanged contact information.
I made sure to get her autograph as well.
Meet Dr. Brenda Flowers Savage and Professor Savage.
When I arrived home, I looked her up and discovered just how remarkable this encounter truly was.
