I had a wonderful day yesterday visiting the wild horses of the Corolla herd as part of a guided tour. This is one of its newest members, a filly, out on a stroll with mom along the water's edge. She was just ahead, never far from her baby. Good luck in the wild little one!
If you are fortunate enough to visit that area, please please be respectful of the horses, especially the little ones. It is a critical time when they learn about humans, hopefully avoiding habituation that can end up endangering them in a variety of ways. Keep your distance and never ever offer them food of any kind. They can not eat the same things domesticated horses can eat, so no apples or carrots or anything else. Those can make them very ill or even lead to death. Each and every one of these horses is a vital part of ensuring that this historic unique herd continues to thrive and survive in the wild.
