Excited to see this one in the light. There is a lot of variety in opacity so it should really feel like it’s moving with the whale as a kind of anchor point 🐋

Still needs some clean up, patina, and a good wax- but I wanted to get an idea of what it would look like all together. I can’t wait to see it in the sun ☀️

A little more progress on my semi circle sun. I probably won’t have time to solder until this weekend, so stay tuned! ☀️

Gleaning

This piece started with the Parable of the Sower. I was thinking about seeds and soil, growth and harvest. But somewhere along the way, I found myself paying more attention to all the other places wheat and fields appear in scripture.

And I kept coming back to Ruth.

In the book of Ruth, landowners were called to leave some of the harvest behind—to resist gathering every last stalk so that those who were poor, hungry, or without a field of their own would have something to gather. This practice is called gleaning.

There’s something beautiful to me about a practice that builds care for our neighbors right into the harvest. Don’t take everything you can. Leave something behind. Make room for someone else to have enough.

It is an ancient practice, but it feels remarkably relevant.

Maybe abundance was never meant to be measured by how much we can gather for ourselves, but by how much we are willing to leave for one another.

And that feels like something worth putting in stained glass—because a way of living that sees our neighbors as sacred, worthy, and deserving of enough is certainly filled with light
