We're so happy to introduce a couple of new members to our Board of Directors along with a few role changes. First, we'd like to welcome Nikki Hollis as our new Volunteer Coordinator, taking over from Leigh Fontana who has done a fabulous job the past few years and is now taking a break to focus more on family. We'd also like to welcome Robert "Bubba" Bringhurst who joins our Events Committee, assisting Randall Stone and Bill Crowley. Please read their bios under each picture.

We're also happy to announce that Linda Kane will be taking over full time as Treasurer after a transition period working with Jan Hall. Jan has served the club for many years and we're delighted she's staying on the board as an Associate Member.

Here's the current Board of Directors for the Southernmost Coconut Castaways:

President - Joy Bollinger
Vice-President - Jim Krysiak
Secretary - Peggy Duma
Treasurer - Linda Kane
Marketing Director - LaReta Morrison
Membership Director - Paul Duma
IT Director - Sari Chapman
Volunteer Coordinator - Nikki Hollis
Events Committee - Randall Stone, Bubba Bringhurst, Bill Crowley
Associate Board Members - Jan Hall, Murray Cox, Alan Faircloth

And did you know...all club members are welcome to attend the monthly board meeting, either in person or via zoom. We meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm at the American Legion on Stock Island. If you'd like to attend via zoom, just let us know so we can send you details. If you're interested in understanding a bit more about how the club operates or if you want to explore potential opportunities on the board, we'd love to have you attend!

"Where Hope Finds A Home" - this is the motto for Samuel's House, a local non-profit that provides shelter, stability, and support for women, children, and intact families in the Florida Keys.
Please join us this Thursday, September 10 at the Celtic Conch to help raise funds for this important organization. We'll kick things off at 5:30 on the rooftop (it's covered so any rain isn't going to stop us!). Enjoy some live music, food, beverages, and meet up with friends.

If you can’t attend but would like to help us support Samuel's House, you can donate online at this link:

Our dedicated volunteers were at it again recently to help pick up trash around the American Legion Post 168 in Bahama Village. A gallon of cigarette butts and 47 pounds of trash have disappeared from our streets and sidewalks, and several political signs have been returned to the candidates for recycling. Thank you volunteers (especially during the summer when it's HOT out!)

With daily summer temps in Key West in the 90s & heat indexes hovering around 100, pretty much any day is a good day for a pool party. But when you combine that with gathering school supplies for the kids and you’re at the beautiful Casa Marina, that makes it a GREAT day! As the kids head back to school, many are in need of school supplies. So we partnered with Kids Come First to gather notebooks, pens, markers, backpacks, & many other supplies. Additionally, through our 50/50 raffle & individual donations, we’ll be donating $500 to help the kids with other things they might need. 📚✏️📓🖍️🖌️🚌

Every year during Castaway To The Keys we raise money to send kids with cancer to summer camp. Last week several of our board members, along with the GM of the Sugarloaf KOA, traveled up to Miami to volunteer at Camp UOTS (United Order True Sisters). The theme for the week was FIFA ⚽️ & they had lots of decorations around camp.

We had breakfast with the kids and then helped them make tie-dye nap sacks, played games, & painted soccer balls. Several of the counselors were former camp attendees, which gave them a special connection to the kids. It was great to see first hand how our donations help the kids!

The Wolf Pack, featuring our very own Dani Hoy & Chris Rehm, along with Tiffani Green, Henry Fuller, Paulie Walterson, & Jerry Thees, will be filling the American Legion with an eclectic mix of island music, soft rock, latin beats, & original tunes this Saturday, June 27 from 7:00-10:00. And here’s the cool part…this band isn’t charging for their performance. They’re playing for tips & to help support the American Legion & our veterans 🇺🇸! Some come on down for a fun evening…where the music is marvelous 🎶, the friends are fantastic 😊, the drinks are cheap 🍻, & the a/c is cool 🥶! Hope to see you Saturday evening!

STORIES BEHIND THE MUSIC

Who’s looking for a relaxing evening of music, stories, and probably a few laughs, AND wants to avoid the noise and crowds of other venues? If this is you, then plan on joining B-Man, mi-Shell, and Tiffani Green on Wednesday, July 8 in the Ready Room of Rick’s Entertainment Complex. You’ll hear some tunes from their new album, some old favorites, and the stories of how those songs came to be. Seats are limited so please call now to reserve your seats. $10 from each ticket sold will be donated to our club so that we can use it to help support all the other charities we work with throughout the year! Hope to see you there!
