Built between 1926 and 1928 by architect John F. Staub, with contributions from Birdsall P. Briscoe - Bayou Bend  was the private mansion  Ima Hogg and her brothers, William C. and Michael Hogg. 

The 14-acres create 8 formal gardens designed by Landscape architects Ruth London, Pat Fleming, Albert E. Sheppard, Diana Garden, and Ellen Shipman

The estate houses one of the premier collections of American decorative arts, silver, glassware, furniture, ceramics, and paintings in the United States, spanning periods from 1620 to 1876. The collection consists of roughly 4,700 items displayed across 28 17th-to-19th-century historic period room settings. 

Ima Hogg donated the house, its gardens, and her entire art collection to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in  1957 and it is now open to the public.

The 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA - One of only three ships of her kind globally that still actively sails.  It's actually sailing this weekend I believe. And I hear that you can sail on it, but I can't figure out how to get tickets. Does anyone know how to get tickets to go sailing with the boat? Can you even get tickets for that?
