AUDITIONS: Live auditions will take place on December 8, 2021
6:30p.m. - 9:30 p.m., in PA 134
Live ZOOM auditions may be scheduled in the same time period.
Please prepare: a 1-2-minute monologue from As You Like It. If you can sing and/or
play an instrument-please prepare 18 bars up-tempo. Accompaniment will not be
provided but feel free to bring an instrument if you play one. The drama program at
College of Marin is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We encourage
students and community members of all races and ethnicities, sexualities, genders,
abilities and ages as well as d/Deaf, to attend auditions.

appropriate information. Please schedule by Tuesday, Dec 7th if possible.
Callbacks: Are invitation only. All callbacks will be on Sunday, December 12 th from
6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., in PA 134. (This was originally Saturday, Dec 11th, but was changed due to a performance of Antigone that night.)
General Rehearsals: Monday-Friday 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., starting January 24-March
3 rd , 2022. Rehearsals will be face-to-face in the James Dunn Theatre.
Everyone must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination at the door by showing an
original vaccination card or digital proof (QR code) from the State of California’s
Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record website. All patrons attending indoor events are
required to bring and wear masks at all times regardless of vaccination status.
Tech week: February 25, 2022 - March 3, 2022. Expect extended rehearsals on these
evenings. Likely a 4-hr minimum due to the length of the show…although I am doing
my best to make cuts right now.
Performances: March 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, and 19 at 7:30 p.m., and March 6, 13, and 20 at
2 p.m.

Characters*:
Most characters in Shakespeare’s play are binary and written with he/him or she/her
pronouns. To be as inclusive as possible, we invite gender non-conforming,
genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most
identify with. We are seeking all races and ethnicities. Please

–Rosalind– 18-30, WOMEN, including Trans women and other
femme presenting genders OPEN ETHNICITY.
Clever, bright, and strong, daughter to Duke Sr., the banished and
usurped duke; cousin to Celia; Determined and strong, she is
stereotypically feminine in court but is the antithesis once she
reaches the forest and disguises herself as a man.
–Orlando– 18-30, MALE, including Trans men, and other masc
presenting genders. OPEN ETHNICITY.
Orlando is the youngest of the Sir Rowland brothers and punished
by his older brother, Oliver. Intelligent, well-spoken, romantic and
brave. Strong build, but tender and emotionally in touch. Boxing or
stage combat experience preferred.
–Celia– 20-30, WOMEN, including Trans women and other femme
presenting genders OPEN ETHNICITY.
Duke Frederick’s child. Royalty. Devoted to their cousin, Rosalind,
with whom she has a deep familial bond. Fun loving & positive, she
is a bit silly and dramatic at times but has depth.
–Duke Sr. – 40-60, OPEN GENDER, OPEN ETHNICTY. Laid-back,
nature-loving, fair & honest leader of the extra-societal band of
misfits. The rightful but exiled duke; sibling to Duke Frederick;
parent to Rosalind. Musicians/Singers strongly encouraged, but not
required.
–Oliver – 20-30 MALE, including Trans men, and other masc
presenting genders. OPEN ETHNICITY.
The oldest of Sir Rowland’s children, is a powerful man struggling
to live his truth in a world that doesn’t accept him. Buttoned-Up,
angry, manipulative, but finds redemption in the Forest of Arden.
–Jacques– 20-30, OPEN GENDER, OPEN ETHNICITY.
Jacques is an attendant courtier in the court of exiled “Duke” Sr.;
melancholy – ridiculously so but likeable. Musicians/Singers
strongly encouraged, but not required.
–Duke Frederick– 30-60, MALE, including Trans men, and other
masc presenting genders, OPEN ETHNICITY.
Volatile political ruler, dictator-esque militaristic. He is the usurping
duke, brother to Duke Sr; father to Celia; the closest thing to a
villain in the piece.
–Touchstone– 20-40, OPEN GENDER, OPEN ETHNICITY.
A fool/jester from the court of Duke Frederick, accompanies
Rosalind and Celia in their escape to the Forest of Arden. Comedic
role great for physical character actors. Class-clown, vulgar, strong
bond with Celia & Rosalind.
–Silvius– 18-25, MALE, including Trans men, and other masc
presenting genders, OPEN ETHNICITY
Sweet, corporate type, who falls hard for Phebe, tries to woo her by
keeping himself very put together around her.
–Phebe-18-25, WOMEN, including Trans women and other femme
presenting genders OPEN ETHNICITY.
Edgy, “a lot”, vain, surface focused but finds real love with Silvius in
the end when she realized she judged book by a cover.
–Charles– 20-30, OPEN GENDER OPEN ETHNICITY.
Performers with kickboxing/boxing/stage combat experience
strongly encouraged.
–Lord Amiens– OPEN AGE, OPEN GENDER, OPEN ETHNICTY.
Joyful, talented singer & attendant to Duke Sr. Singing required,
instrumental optional.
–Adam/H***n– 50+, OPEN GENDER, OPEN ETHNICITY.
Devoted, loyal, kind, strong parental bond with Orlando. Appears at
the end as H***n to close the show and unite the couples during
the wedding. Singing preferred.
–Corin– 18+, OPEN GENDER, OPEN ETHNICITY.
Good friend to Silvius, tries to teach him about love. Helpful to
many people they meet in the forest. Musicians/Singers strongly
encouraged, but not required.
–Audrey– 18+, WOMEN, including Trans women and other femme
presenting genders OPEN ETHNICITY.
Simpleminded, brash, earthy.
–Le Beau– 18+, OPEN GENDER, OPEN ETHNICITY.
Town gossip who lives for the drama, lives in the court.
–Sir Oliver Martext– 18+, OPEN GENDER, OPEN ETHNICITY.
A person who dresses up as a preacher. Non-speaking role.
–Jack De Boys– 18+ MALE, including Trans men, and other masc
presenting genders.
Third brother of Oliver & Orlando who restores taken lands to Duke
Senior in the end.
–William– 18+, MALE, including Trans men, and other masc
presenting genders, OPEN ETHNICITY.
Sweet & simple. Young country boy who falls in love with Audrey.
–First, Second, Third Lords-18+, OPEN GENDER, OPEN

Lively and loyal members of Duke Senior’s court in the forest.
